Ozziegiraffe, I really appreciate your advice :-)))))))) Thank you very much)

Hello salomon lovers!

First of all I would like to congratulate you for the great work you do in this forum. Amazing and real useful information!!! Thanks to this forum and the guys of exploringsolomons.wikispaces.com, I think I could learn a lot of this beautiful unknown country we want to explore! Together with my wife we are always looking for adventurous places to travel, far far away from mass tourism and 5 star hotels!!

I´m planing a 4 weeks trip to the Salomons in September 2013. We have simple objectives: discover the culture, meet friendly people, enjoy the untouched nature, make long trekkings and good dives, Thats the reason why i fell in love with the Salomons!

We are semi-experienced travelers (most of asi... more »

Samoan Independence Day Holiday in early June

I know the first few days of June will be a big holiday in Samoa. Can anyone tell me how that might impact traveling there? I'll only be in the country for about 8 days (starting May 30th) and I'm trying make some plans now. Is it best to stay put during those few days or just keep moving? Is being there during the Independence celebration a good thing as far as seeing what the locals get up to or a set back? Any and all info is appreciated!! =)

also if you have any general tips on accommodation/places to stay/food/transport, that will be appreciate too!!

Meetup for Coffee?

Anyone in Fiji between May 20 to June 24th with time on their hands who might like to meet up for a coffee? I won't have access to Wifi while I'm there nor do I usually use internet cafes, but if anyone wants to meet up please e-mail me - see my profile. Please at least put TT in the subject line, otherwise I'll blow the message away if I don't know who it's from.

Facilities at Jacksons International Airport

I have to pass through the Jacksons International Airport in Port Moresby in October and will have some 9 hours between flights. I will be tired after a long distance arriving flight and would appreciate some rest. Are there any good lounging facilities or similar within the airport? I am worried because I have come across more than one review critical of the airport staff and describing them as "rude and dishonest"

Where to find a traditional Umu on 'Eua

Do you want to have the unique experience like us, of a traditional Tongan eating event - an Umu?

Please read our story below, and you'll be able to enjoy this amazing event with the local people, without paying tour operators or middle men for the privelege... we are only writing this to help our friend who would like to do this more often, because we had such an incredible time getting to know him and his family, and were very lucky to experience a truly authentic part of Tongan culture.

We are two travellers, Mark and Richard, who visited the wonderful island of 'Eua in April 2013. We stayed at the Hideaway, which we highly recommend, and got to know one of the guides who does the guided walks around the island - Sione.

He was a really great guide, conversationist, and teacher of the island and it's secrets and traditions. He very kindly offered to take us, as the first ev... more »

Vanuatu, Fiji, scenery

Hi there

I will stay 5 days at Taveuni, Fiji.
Is it possible to do trip to other islands around Taveuni? I will also go to Kadavu and Waya

I also stay in Vanuatu.
Which places in Vanuatu do have the most spectaculair scenery? I also love bizar scenery, like the volcanic onces. I booked, Santo, Tanna and Ambrym. But after this Santo doesnt seem to have good scenery I am afraid.

I have visited Tahiti. Are the forest on Fiji and Vanuatu more dense than the interior of Tahiti? Is it also more diverse?

Thanks for the help, Reza

Campervans in New cal? Camping on Grand Terre

HI
Anybody used a campervan in New caledonia - or do they even exist at decent rates? ANy advice would be great. Also, if we were unable to get a campervan but used a normal small car is it easy to find camp ground anywhere north of Noumea and what sort of gear would we need to take. At this stage it looks as tho we will only have sleeping bags.
Thanks

Fiji Arts Village (Pacific Harbor)

I am going to Fiji in July mainly for scuba diving but would like to do some land visits as well. On of the places that I want to go is the Arts Village in Pacific Harbor. It used to have its own website and accept on-line booking for their tours, but the site has now disappeared. Is the village closed or something?

Share car rental around Fiji

I have booked a Budget rental car for a week (Saturday 18 to Saturday 25 May 2013) to explore Viti Levu. I'd like to visit less touristy ( more Fijian) villages, and still snorkel dive in a couple of places. It would be great if one or two people would like to add to the adventure and share rental costs (250 euros in total) + petrol.

Kayaking Trip - Fiji

If you could have a 2 week kayaking and camping trip in Fiji with a foldable kayak, where would you go?

Islands, beaches, coral reefs and local villages pretty much sums up what I am looking for.
