Has anyone stayed there? I am getting mixed reviews about the beach area? Can you actually swim in the beach there?
We are staying in Nadi for 3 days on our way to Australia and included in our package is the Tanoa International Hotel which is about 5min from the airport but closer to a half hour to the beach. We had in mind relaxing with drink in hand on the white sand beaches & infinity pools with a view of the beach but that wont happen at Tanoa.
So my question is....can we go to some of the nicer resorts, Sheraton, Westin, ect and enjoy their beach front property and maybe even their pools? The guests may have wristbands to distinguish, I don't know, or maybe there is a day use fee that is reasonable?
If not, any other suggestions would be Grately appreciated!
The Mt Batilamu hike is absolutely amazing. It is run through the Abaca visitor centre which is about 40 minutes outside of Lautoka. You hike up to the top of the mountain stay in a lodge up there, wake up to fantastic views and hike down the next morning, there are also waterfall trails you can do at the bottom.
To book through the village and avoid all that ring Kalesi Bose at the Abaca visitor centre her phone numbers are 7365419, and 92... more »
im new to FIJI but not to travelling in these sorts of countries.
i know it is a holiday destination (and that its not SE Asia) but i think paying for one of these 1500NZdollar packages upfront, now, here in New Zealand is a bit out of order frankly! (and of course i am a bit of a budgeteer so hate to pay for stuff upfront)....
that was a Bula pass which incl 3meals and accom and the ferry to just about all the islands.
hopefully someone can advise on my situation
it is now high season there so that can bring further probs
but for now i hope to just rock up and wing it, haggle my way around for about 10-12 days to a few islands, and chill out.
cheers very much

It has to happen. On a budget. October 4th. Help! The two destinations are really not far from one another; it seems ridiculous to take a roundabout way via Vitu Levu. Not to mention the fact that it would take two days!
My flight arrives at 1.15pm, can I make to Denaru Marine for the 3.15pm ferry to the islands.
How long does it take normally to clear customs.
I will be in Fiji in November. I will be landing at 5:15a and catching the 8:30a departure of the Yasawa Flyer for 9 days of traveling around the Yasawa islands. When I finish the "tour", I will arrive back at Port Denarau at 5:45p and I would like to immediately depart for Rakiraki in time for their 8:00a dive boat departures.
After 2 days in Rakiraki, I will be traveling to Pacific Harbor to go to Beqa for another 2 days before heading back to Nadi for an 8:45a departure for Auckland.
Does anyone know the best way to get to each location, travel time and the approximate price? Ideally, I would like to travel at night in order to be at the next location by say 7 in the morning in first thing in time for the departures (dive boat or flight). It might also save me 2 nights accommodations. I know, it's a tight schedule.

I am going to Fiji for a wedding at the end of August. We are staying for a week on the main island. I am 23 and looking to experience the local nightlife...any suggestions?
I am also looking to purchase some paintings. Does anyone know where I could find local artists? Looking to spend no more then $150AU
Any other tips would be much appreciated
Myself and my partner are going to Fiji next March/April for a family wedding. Plans so far;
4 days & nights in Denaru (Mon - Thurs)
3 days & nights in Castaway Island for the wedding (Fri - Sun)
7 days & 6 nights to be planned (Mon - Sun)
final night in an airport hotel in Nadi (Sun eve)
Fly out at 9.55am Monday.
So, we need to decide what do do for a week. We were thinking of splitting it between a more expensive luxury type resort (thinking Lomani, Tokoriki or Navatu Stars, if anyone has any opinions on any of those?) and then a few days in a different part of the island chain perhaps nearer to Yasawa islands to try to see as much as we can....
I'd appreciate if anyone can help with the following questions;
1. How easy is it to get between islands? I've looked at the South Sea Ferry and the Yasawa Flyer and the timetable seems rather limited. What ot... more »
Hi--Been traveling for last 7 months and have a four day layover in Fiji (like another recent post here). Plane arrives 7/8 at 12:20 pm which sounds like it might be too late for a boat? Leave 7/12 10:00 pm, also Nadi. I know it is not a lot of time (I usually spend at least a month in a new country). What is best suggestion for low to midrange accommodation and location? Definitely want to do some great snorkeling and perhaps a DSD intro dive (no C card). Other than that some chill time and writing before finally returning stateside. Thanks!!!!

So we arrive in Fiji in July for three weeks and we're keen to dive the best sites on offer.... we are also hoping to enjoy a sailing experience in the islands. Everything we can find on the web is way beyond our backpacker's budget.
Does anyone out there know of any contacts or operators who could help us get on the ocean for a few days without resorting to ferries? With or without diving opportunities??
I'm headed back to the US from Australia and I have 4 days in FIji before I fly to the states.
I'll be arriving and departing from Nadi.
I'm just wondering if anyone has any advice for places to stay /things to do/places to go within this short time frame?
I'm really keen on taking in as much sunshine as possible. I love to just lay in the sun, but not all day. I really would like to surf, dive, or dig into some culture while I'm there. Any suggestions?
As for places to stay, should I stay around Nadi, or is there a possibility of staying on Manmuca islands or Yasawa Islands?
What is transportation like to and from the airport?
I'm a young female travelling solo, but that doesnt usually hinder me too much.
i'll be arriving in nadi from melbourne at 6.20am and am wondering if i'll have enough time to get on the 7.30am coral sun bus to suva, or is this cutting it a bit fine.
i have a flight from nadi to suva in the afternoon but from what i've read there's no point hanging around nadi.
has anyone been to Savusavu beach?how is it?clean?nice?is the cost of living more than the other islands?
I never been to Fiji before so I am looking to go backpacking in September for around 1 or 2 weeks.
I just have a few questions if there is any one that can help answer:
Where is the best places to go to?
Is a week long enough to spend there to travel around?
I will be looking at staying in backpackers and minding my dollars- so what would be a reasonable budget?
I realise my questions are very vague but I am only looking into the idea at the moment so just trying to get a feel for it.
