Huangshan Wuhan & wuyuan

Hi everybody!

I am going to china next month and i wanted to ask: who to get from Huangshan, wuyuan & Wuhan in this order.
I know there isn't any train connecting those cities. If posible by bus which one, who much time & costs of ticket.

Any other advise would be gladly welcome.

Thanks in advance.

Gobi vs. Taklamakan Desert?

Hello! :) I'm going to China in a couple of weeks, and will be spending most of my time in Xinjiang. I was really keen to do a camel trek over a couple of days in the Taklamakan desert around Hotan, until I saw photos of the Gobi around Dunhuang and fell in love. As much as I love riding camels, I don't think I can do two of them due to time factors, and so I was wondering if anyone could recommend one over the other, considering the weather in June. Is one more scenic/awe-inspiring than the other, or rougher traveling? Any help would be appreciated! :)

OSAKA for 2 weeks. Cheap Easts and funky bars??

Hi there,
I am heading to Osaka for 10 days very soon and want to know of any great cheap eating places, bars, restaurants and anything else we must see in the city.

We are on a bit of a budget but want to really experience what Osaka has to offer.

Are there any cool roof top bars in Osaka?

We are travelling from Australia, so really like the vibrant city offering.

Thanks Heaps,
Josh

Hiking around Kaili Western Guizhou

Hi,

Next month I'm planning to go to Kaili, western Guizhou. I want to go hiking from Xijiang to Paiyang but I'm struggling to find a map. Is it possible for me to pick a map up in Kaili? Does anyone know if there are any Miao festivals around Kaili in July?

Thanks

Renting/buying phone if staying few weeks in China and then SE Asia?

I'm flying into Shanghai next weekend, and SIM cards aren't compatible with Verizon while their international rates are pretty expensive.

After spending a day in Shanghai, I then plan to also see some other cities in China. Afterwards, I also plan to travel to Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Thailand. I may also see the Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos

So I plan to spend maybe 2-4 weeks in China and then a couple months in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and SE Asia. There is a possibility that I may stay in China or another Asian country in the future, either on vacation or by becoming an English teacher.

During my summer vacation in China, I don't intend to use the phone often as I can just use skype to contact family back home

Would it be advisable to purchase a phone? or rent a phone such as through PandaPhone?

Gion Matsuri-Kyoto

Hi,

I'll be travelling to Kyoto from July 14-18 during the Gion Matsuri festival. Since this will be my first time in Kyoto, I was a bit worried that it will be hard to see the different sights with the large crowds that will no doubt be in Kyoto at this time. Does anyone know if the tourist sights/subway/buses will be overly packed during these times. Should I avoid coming at this time? Thanks for your help!

Traveling to China and then SE Asia

I have booked a flight to arrive in Shanghai for this Saturday and I plan to also see Hangzhou, Suzhou, Chengdu, Chongqing, Changsha, Shenzhen and Guangzhou. I am also considering seeing Xiamen and Guangxi also. Afterwards, I also plan to travel to Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Thailand. I may also see the Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos

I'll also be traveling alone and I know very little Mandarin (completed the first 10 parts of Pimsleur's Mandarin course) and no Cantonese. I heard traveling in Chengdu may be a problem since theres not many English speakers there. Is that true?

I'm not sure what is the best order to see these places in order to save the most money and time. I've done a little research and it seems that it would be cheaper to travel from Shanghai/Hangzhou/Suzhou to Chongqing/Chengdu to Guangzhou/Shenzhen to Xiamen to Taiwan to Philippines to Vietnam to Thailan... more »
