Seoul-Andong-Sokcho-Seoul

Hello,

I'll be going to SKorea in late October. One of my plans are to travel from Seoul to Andong to Sokcho back to Seoul. I've found buses from Seoul to Andong and from Sokcho back to Seoul. But I can't find any direct bus from Andong to Sokcho. Are there any? The only way I found was to take a train from Andong to Gangneung, then from Gangneung a bus to Sokcho. My question is, are there better/faster options? Are there even buses from Andong to Gangneung? I can't seems to find any, would prefer to take a bus direct to the Gangneung Bus Terminal rather than a train to Gangneung Station than take a taxi to the Bus terminal. Would want to save as much time as possible, as the option I found would take about half a day of travel.

Any advice is much appreciated
Thank you!

Travel around Korea

I will travel from Seoul to Jeonju, Mokpo, Jeju, Daegu, Sokcho and back to Seoul during May 24 - June 5. Do I have to book bus or train prior departure or can I just show up on the day? Thanks.

Night shopping in Incheon

I'm staying overnight in Incheon near the airport, most likely at the Hyatt. (It's a free stay courtesy of Korean Air). I've done the same thing before but the hotel staff all warned me not to go out! However, this time I know better and would like to go out and do some night shopping. Is the nearest big town Incheon? Is there anything to do/see there after dinner? I'd love to shop for clothes, shoes and general merchandise. How much would a taxi to/from the Hyatt (right next to the airport) cost?

Anyone Living in Seoul Who Loves Food? Speaks Korean?

Hello there,

I will be in Seoul for a few days June 13, 14,15. I'm looking to do some sightseeing to some temples, palaces, gates and other interesting places. My main goal however is to eat till I fall apart. I love Korean food. After seeing Korean street food on Youtube once I KNEW I had to go to Korea when giving the chance. Well that chance is this June as I trek home from India for a friend's wedding.

I'll eat anything and anywhere that's good. I eat all meats, seafood, vegetables, different chili levels, Seriously there's nothing I won't try once. I'll go to malls, street vendors, restaurants, hole in the walls, etc... The only problem I don't speak Korean and will not be able to pick it up in time for my trip. I can learn to ask "How much?" in Korean but if they answer I would have no idea what they say. If there is anyone in Seoul who wouldn't mind or have free time to s... more »

Traditional Korean Court Music

Hello,

I'm looking for a specialty music store anywhere in Korea, but ideally in the Seoul area, where I might be able to pick up a recording of this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dangak. Specifically the Boheoja piece. Any info about where I could obtain some of this online would also be most welcome.

Thanks

Joint Beetle - KR Pass

Greetings,

I am looking for information about a joint Beetle-KR ferry-train pass. I found a few details here: http://visitkorea.or.kr/enu/TR/TR_EN_5_7.jsp

We will be travelling in Japan for a week and then Korea in a week, so we'll need a train pass for Japan, Korea, and ferry passage.

Does anyone have experience with the KR-Beetle joint pass? We'll be travelling in late May from the States, and I worry about not reserving a ferry seat in advance, but it looks like this pass can only be purchased in Hakata. I don't see any details about the price of the ticket, so I wonder if it's worth it to buy in Hakata, or if I should just reserve a ferry ticket and buy a KR pass now.

If anyone has any thoughts, I'd greatly appreciate it.

DMZ

Hi,

I was wondering if someone could suggest alternate ways to see the DMZ aside from taking a tour of Panmunjom (which I will also do). I'm not expecting another area with trips that are organized for tourists, though that would also be great if it exists, just any area where I could get a good view and some photos of the DMZ.

Many Thanks

if you had 21 hours in Seoul........ (sunrise?)

Greetings!

I have a 21 hour layover in Seoul coming up, arrive at 11 pm & fly out at 7 pm next day

I know city is about 1 hour from airport, I think I will check my bags somewhere & sleep a couple hours, then head out into the city & make the most of my long afternoon! :)

I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a place to watch the sunrise?????

Also, is there a certain area you would focus on for such a short time like I have?

Thank you SO much!
cheers,
Nicole

Koridoor tours in July

Hello there,
Does anybody know how far in advance Koridoor release their schedule? The May and June dates have been on their website for ages, but there is nothing for July. I was wondering if this is because of the uncertainty over relations with the north, or they have a few release dates through the year. I'm looking for a JMZ tour in July.
Thanks
David
