I am visiting a friend in Amman for a few days next week and I'd love to see more of Jordan while I'm there but I'm on a budget. I've put my planned itinerary below, can anyone help with these questions:
Day 1: Amman to Wadi Musa, explore Petra in the afternoon (overnight in Wadi Musa)
- How long does it take to get from Amman to Wadi Musa?
- Is it easy and inexpensive to get a shared taxi or is a bus easier? How much does it cost? How could I arrange
Day 2: Explore Petra and then travel to Wadi Rum, overnight in a Bedouin camp
- Can I get a shared taxi or bus easily from Petra to Wadi Rum in the afternoon? How much would it cost roughly?
- Does anyone have a camp to recommend which can also organise a 4WD trip around the area the next day?
Day 3: 4WD trip around Wadi Rum and then cross to Eilat
- What time would I have to leave Wadi Rum to get to Eilat aro...
I'm planning a visit to Iran. I know that the bus network is very extensive in many cities and also between cities. However, I cannot find any information about the bus service from Tehran to Chalus. How about shared taxi or private taxi service? Is it common for Iranian to use shared taxi or private taxi to travel between cities, such as Tehran and Chalus, Tehran and Esfahan or Esfahan and Shiraz? Any intercity regular taxi service, just as minibus in Armenia and Georgia? Is it easy to get? Are the taxi driver willing to go for such a long distance, as they may need to return with no passenger on the other day? What will be the cost then? Can I calculate the rate just like USD0.3 per km? Thanks!
I'm considering a job offer in Doha, but I'm worried about its climate because I have asthma. (I'm living now in Serbia - continetal climate)
Does anyone (knows anyone who) had a same problem?
How that weather&climate affects people with asthma?
Spanish & Egyptian climate were ok for me, but I dont know for Qatar.
Thanks a lot!
I was planning to stay at the Silk Road Hotel in Yazd until I saw a recent post of 500,000 rial for a double room.Unless they have a single room (no dorm) for a much lesser price, say under 350,000 rial, can anyone suggest another hotel in my price range?
Thanks to those who reply.
How easy is it to extend a 30 day tourist visa in Iran? How likely is sucess? Which are the best cities to try? Can I receive another 30 days? Thanks.
I'm going to Taba, Egypt for a week in June and I'd like to go to Petra, Jordan for one of the days. The tours I found are very expensive.... around £200 ($300) which includes transportation (ferry from Nuweiba to Aqaba, transfer buses), entry to Petra, lunch etc.
Does anyone know a cheaper option?
Has anyone done this trip by themselves rather than pay for a tour? If so, how easy and safe is it?
hi so i have a friend coming to visit me in israel in early july for one week and i have a couple of questions. first, we would like to go to egypt for a couple days (basically just to see the pyramids)... so one, how do i get a visa in israel and about how much is that? (i am an american citizen living here on a long term program) and how should she go about getting one in los angeles? or would it be easier to wait until she gets here to get one?
and in your opinion, how much of a hassle would it be to take a bus there for a short (2 day or so) trip? i have read other posts so i think i have a general idea of how to do it, but any info would be great. thanks so much!
I ll be in Kerman next week and very much interested to go to Kalouts desert. Find few tours but they are quite expensive (120 U$ two days). Is there people who wants to go there and share costs ?
Solo traveler here. I'm flying into Amman on July 25th at two in the morning. I plan on spending three to four days in Jordan. I'd like to see Petra and some of the other sights along the way (Karak, etc.). I want to rent a car since that will make seeing more things possible, but I need other people to split the cost with! Please comment back/message me if you want to do this! I'm pretty open about what to see, I just would like to be back in Jordan the night of the 28th/morning of the 29th to fly to Beirut.
We have arranged our transitvisa ( 72 hours ) for Saudi in Muscat, so it is possible, but you need a local accrediteert agent.
Hello everyone. I am travelling to Iran on 23rd of May 2012. Planning to stay for around 20 days. I have planned some heavy travelling during this time and therefore I am a little worried about carrying cash. I know, foreign cards/credit cards don't work and the only option is getting a prepaid ATM card also known as GIFT cards from a local bank. I want to know if anyone here has ever tried it and would recommend it? Also, what is the fees as I heard it is very costly to get one, is that true?
Thanks a lot.
I just had the chance to visit Jordan, Lebanon and the UAE. Amazing countries (for very different reasons). A photo report of the trip can be found at http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/trip-reports/1342428-jordan-lebanon-uae-two-weeks-middle-east.html !
Hi ALL, does anyone can give me information about procedures/legalities (i.e. documents needed) for a CAR (for personal use_not commercial use) being exported to Iran via bandar abbas purchased from UAE (sharjah). Im planning to go there in next month as a tourist, and a good Irani friend of mine (based in Iran) came to an idea about the subject...(they will pay all the duties/formalities/car under their name) when I reached there in bandar abbas together with the car....but i have very short knowledge about the processing here in the UAE....replies will be well-appreciated.
Hey guys, I have some problems here. Just book the flight from Saudi to Dubai to Qatar, but from two Independent airways:
(1) FlyDubai: Saudi to Dubai
(2) QatarAirways: Dubai to Qatar
And I only stay in Dubai for 6 hours, that's it.
The problem is: I have to pass through the passport/visa checking custom, and get my luggage out there, and then take my luggage to the Qatar Airways Counter to check-in again, right? Because there is no way for a Chinese-passport holder to get a transit visa! I called the visa agency there @ Dubai airport, they can only issue the visa if the flight is less than 96 hours AND MORE THAN 8 hours!!! Mine is 6 hours, so they won't issue the transit visa.
I called the immigration office, he said "u need a tourist visa for 30 days!" Can you imagine that? 30 days visa for 6 hours use?????
Also, Qatar Airways said there is another "luggage agency" in ... more »
I will be hoping around Jordan and Egypt soon and was wondering what the best dive shop in Aqaba is? I plan to start in Amman for 1 day, hit up the dead sea on my way south, get my adventure or advanced open water cert in Aqaba for 2 days, 2 days in wadi, 2 days in petra, hit up Sinai for a couple days, and then off to Cairo to round out the trip at the pyramids.
The trip is pretty flexible except that I have to book the diving and want to do it earlier in the trip (planning on a roughly 10-12 day trip).
Any places that have a good reputation for training/diving at a decent price? Any include accommodations?
Open to all ideas and suggestions.
