Flying to Hadhramaut governorate?

I've been told by a local that it is possible for tourists to fly to places in Hadhramaut from Sana'a. They just won't drive you there right now.

Any opinions?

Petra and Wadi Rum

Hi guys, I will be visiting Israel and Jordan for 2 weeks in May and had some questions about Petra and wadi rum. I would like to spend a night in Petra and a night in wadi rum- does it matter which I do first? Also regarding wadi rum, I am traveling solo and would like to book a tour for this and heard it was cheaper to do this while in Jordan- should I wait till I am there to see what is available or book in advance? And where in Jordon would be best to book this- petra? aqaba? Thanks all!

Dubai Budget Accommodation and May Climate

Hi there

I visited Dubai in September a couple of years ago and saw a handful of 'local hotels' in the old districts such as Bur Dubai and Deira. They are probably run by the Pakistani/Indian. I wonder if anyone has experience staying in any of them or know about them. If yes, could you enlighten me regarding their:

1) cleanliness and conditions
2) price/night
3) how to go about making a booking
4) advise alternative cheap yet central accommodation in Dubai

Dubai was pretty hot and humid in September, I wonder what the climate will feel like in late May.

Many thanks!

US Cash From ATMs?

Do any of the ATMs in Dubai issue US dollars. If so, what is the limit of how much you can withdraw in one transaction or day? And what is the fee for each transaction? I have a Travel Card which is pre-loaded with US dollars and acts like debit/credit card. Thank you :)

Exchange Rate for Indian Rupies

Is someone currently in Iran and can check the inofficial exchange rate for indian rupies?

Our main concern is that we are currently traveling in India, and therefore only get indian rupies from ATMs. However, all the info avaliable is only about € and USD.

How would we loose less?
1. either exchanging the indian rupies into USD or € while in India and in Iranian rial whilw in Iran
2. or directly exchaning the indian rupies into rial when in Iran

Thanks, and happy traveling !

My month-long Iran visit in November 2012

I'm from Croatia, I was in Iran from 24th October to19th November 2012 and it was one of the best things I've done in my life, so here's a quick recap:

-keep in mind 95% of entrance ticket prices (Persepolis, most mosques and gardens) increased from 5000 rial to about 150 000 rial for foreigners since I was there-

Crossed border from Erbil in Iraq with bus. It was the Eid and we spent 7 hours waiting at the border because there were huge crowds of Iraqis/Kurds wanting to go into Iran for the holidays. Border crossing itself was straightforward.

In Piranshahr just beyond the border the bus was stopped at a checkpoint and I was asked what is the purpose of my visit, I said tourism and listed the places I plan to visit, was given an ok and that was that.

Came to Urmiya and took a bus straight to Tehran.

Tehran the next day, took a motor taxi from Azadi Tower to Amir Kabir ... more »

Border Corssing from Azerbaijan - Astara

Does anybody here have experience entering Iran overland from Azerbaijan - there is one entry point at Astara. Just curious how it compares to the entry points from Turkey which I would think are much busier. With the latest land-entry restrictions I believe I'll have to note "entering by Air" on my visa but I'd like to still try my luck at the border. I wonder if my chances are significantly better from Turkey than Azerbaijan.

I am traveling by bicycle and would much rather travel Turkey-Georgia-Azerbaijan-Iran, than to cut in directly from Turkey. Curious what my options are though...
