Travel books library
I need some help!
I wonder whether somebody can come to my rescue. I once had a wonderful website that I have lost when my computer went dead. It was a kind of travel books library where you could communicate with the members. It was free and open to everybody. It listed the best travel books written over many centuries. You could post your inquiries and members replied. As far as I remember, it covered only books written by travelers. Does anybody know this site by chance? Thanks in advance for any help.
How much money is needed for Mexico?
Hi All,
Just wondering how much money I would need (In peso's) on a day to day basis if I were to visit Mexico.
Have 3 months of leave coming up, and ill spend some time in Southeast Asia, but I've always wanted to visit Mexico, but I have no idea if It's cheap or not while you're there.
If anyone couldd give me an idea how much I'd need to be comfortable on a day to day basisi, that would be great. I will prebook hotels, so money is just for being a tourist, eating and lots of drinking :)
Also, some good attractions to see would be nice to know about as well.
Thanks for your help,
Dwayne

Roadtrip from Puerto Vallarta to Salina Cruz, Surfspots and recommendations
Welcome all,
already read a lot in this Forum but this is finally my first post.
I am studying in Puebla in méxico for one year in exchange. We booked today a car to have our biggest adventure so far. We will travel from the 10th of December till the 15th of January.
We will drive from Puebla to Puerto Vallarta to start there our big journey down the pacific coast till Salina Cruz.
We are easy and relaxed people, 3 students speaking spanish, we like hanging around, chilling, enjoying nature and wanna surf a lot and see beautiful beaches with perfect waves for beginners and advanced surfers. We dont wanna stay in exlusive hotels, rather it would be nice to get recommendations of hostels, places, beaches,... to stay. And maybe things to avoid, like dangerous streets. We dont have a schedule, so if we like one place, we will stay there longer and if not, we will just continue o...

first toll booth coming south on 85D from nuevo laredo
Does anyone know how far it is to the first toll booth from Nuevo Laredo? There is a gas station and a Church's Chicken - used to be a hotel.
Is the hotel open?
Thanks, Wanda
Sailing
Hello,
I'll be travelling to South America late January 2013 and would really like to join someone/people on a yacht for a few weeks or even day/weekend trips.
I'm a 27 year old male. I'm very laid back, easy going and hard working. I speak English, German and some Spanish.
I don't have a lot of sailing experience but have a Day Skipper certificate and am willing to gain experience.
Depending on the situation, I'm willing to pay/crew/cook for my time on board.
I'm flexible and would be interested in anything in South America, Central America or the Caribbean.

Puerto Vallarta to Mexico City or vice versa and weather....
Im returning to Mexico after Christmas to finish my last year's trip which saw me travel from Cancun to Oaxaca to Mexico City.
I'd love to go away in January, but I remember that I was cold in Mexico City when I was there last year, and the weather was predicted, and turned out to be, not so great for that month that I would have spent travelling to PV.
SO, I guess January is the worst month for -- do you call it "central" Mexico? Is February any better, or should I try to hold of until March? Don't like hot, hot, hot, but don't really want hail showers either. Can't go before Christmas, have to be back by March 30.
Mexico City airport connecting times
Greetings,
I am booking plane reservations and would like any thoughts or comments on the time between flights. Arriving MEX from LAX at 4:00 in the afternoon and trying to connect to a flight on Interjet to Oaxaca an hour and forty minutes later. I assume we will need to change terminals. We will probably have just carry on bags so we shouldn't be delayed at the baggage carousel. Is it realistic to think we get through immigration and local security to make this connection? Thanks in advance, and Happy Trails.
Thanksgiving in San Cristobal suggestion.

I have 6 questions need your input:

Place like Tulum near Puerto Vallarta?
hello! I stayed in Tulum sometime ago and loved it. Now I am going to Puerto Vallarta and would like to find a similar place to stay. i.e. a small, low-key village with beachfront huts and some decent food, and far from the crowds. Thanks in advance for any leads, I really appreciate your time!

Major new Maya Museum in Cancun, and archaeology news
Just wanted to share the news for any interested parties that INAH has just inaugurated their first museum dedicated entirely to Maya culture: El Museo Maya de Cancun. There's a good walk-through video here (http://www.inahnoticias.mx/ it's on the far left, in Spanish), which also features updates on the major archaeological work underway at Dzibanche and Ichkabal, in southern QRoo.
There's also a long-form article on the museum (in Spanish) here:
http://www.inah.gob.mx/index.php/boletines/248-museos/6217-museo-de-cancun-reservorio-del-legado-maya-en-qroo
I would love to hear any thoughts on the museum from travelers in the area. It looks to be a very good one.

back to Zihua
After about 10 years and many trips to other places in México, I'm returning to my old favorite beach destination. My Spanish is much improved, my knowledge of the customs and culture are enriched and I'd like to get off the tourist track a little. This trip I'm traveling with a friend who has never been to México before! Please offer any suggestions for hearing local music (not blues). local cenadurias, etc. that may be a cab or bus ride out of the centro. ¡Gracias!

Cancun: Hotel/Spa/Resort
I am travelling to Cancun and I would like to know what or which hotel/spa/resort is the best. I'm doing a lot of relaxing because this is my first vacation in a long time and I would like a place where I can stay in one spot, not be disturbed, and RELAX. What's the best hotel/spa/resort in Cancun?

Mexico City to Merida
Hello,
A friend and I are going to Mexico near the end of our trip (late december) and have 10 days from landing in Mexico City to get to Merida to meet some family. We have looked into the country and understand 10 days is nearly nothing, but we don't have much of a choice and are finding it hard to decide on places to go, even after reading some other forums. We have looked into many areas on the pacific and gulf side of Mexico including:
The Arch Cabo and lovers beach
Chichen Itza (ruins and cave lake) - most likely a must do for us
Tulum ruins
Cliff divers Acapulco
Matzalan
Teotihuacan, Mexico City (Sun and moon temple)
Monarch butterflies, Michoacan
Coba ruins
Jungle maya tour exploring underground rivers
Marietas islands, Puerto Vallarta and the hidden beach
We probably want to spend 2 or 3 days in Mexico City. Any advice would be helpful on where the best pl...
