Lansdowne- Best budget place to stay?
hi,
A few friends and I are planning to visit Lansdowne for 2 nights and 3 days. We're looking for a place which is not too commercial - someplace quaint and quiet - and budget too. Would you have any recommendations?

Express Indian visa from Kathmandu?
Hey guys!
I will be in KTM for only 4 days, and then going to Delhi. I will only spend 2 working days there to apply for the visa; so wondering if it could be possible to pay extra and obtain an express Indian visa from the Embassy there. Has anyone done this?
Thanks!

TAXI TO ARUGAM BAY 12TH JULY 2012 AND OTHER A-BAY TRAVEL OPTIONS??
Hi
I'm looking to see if anyone would like to share a taxi/transport to arugam bay from the airport. I'm arriving in to colombo 1600 on the 12th but would be up for waiting around in colombo for a day or so.
Anyone???
Also I was wondering if anyone knew anything about other modes of transport to arugam bay in no one can make these dates. ????
I've come across a night bus that runs from pettah straight to A-bay. (http://siyambala.com/2012/02/06/how-to-get-to-arugam-bay/) Has anyone used this service? Is the info on this site accurate?
I was also considering taking the train across to badulla or newura eliya and then a bus from there? Has anyone tried this or know if it is at all feasible?
Very many thanks in advance for your help,
Any advice (even just a "get real and pay for the taxi") would be hugely appreciated :)
Joe

Hotel New York in Dhaka - phone number/address?
I saw a couple of recommendations on this hotel. Is there a phone number available? Google returned no results.I will arrive tomorrow early morning, need some kind of direction for driver. All I have now is Tophkana road, next to cafe New Jheels/Cafe New York. But if the driver does not know this hotel, there is little chance he will know cafe New York. And what is the approximate cost for CNG/Taxi to go to this hotel from Airport?
Thanks!

My bad experience while hiring taxi for Himachal from Ambala or Delhi.
The exotic and mystic places in Himachal are heavenly. Our family comprised of 8 with kids, ladies and senior citizens. We booked our taxi for a 12 days tour in Himachal from "TIRUPATI TRAVELS" Ambala (Hariyana) hoping that they will send the car from Ambala as we had a bad experience of taxi operators from Delhi in the past. To our surprise, we got a car from some SKT Tours & Travel from Delhi. As we could not postponed our departure and return the taxi, reluctantly we proceeded on our tour on 30th of May 2012
After 6 hours of drive the air conditioning of the car broke down exposing small kids and senior citizens to extreme heat near Panchkula. On a complaint, they told us to bear with them for a day more and then if need be, they will change the car. Hoping for better, we continued our tour after waiting for repairs in the blistering heat for 3 hours.
*Though "Tirupati Trave...

Acceptable gear for Everest Base Camp summer trek?
Hi guys, I am a tourist that will be operating out of Phnom Penh for the next two months and wish to make a ~24 day trip (6 spare days in case of delays) to Nepal to do a solo trek to Everest Base Camp sometime beginning in July and hopefully ending before/during early August.
Since it is rain season I am aware that I am going to have to pack for the very wet, the very cold and the very hot. I am a fairly fit (at least for horizontal travel) 20-something year old with outdoor experience but since Nepal is completely new to me I guess that will not mean much. I was wondering if any trekking vets here could make any recommendations for my current gear loadout so that I am not over or underprepared.

1 pair pants, 1 pair shorts

Camping in India
I wanted to ask some advice concerning camping while traveling around India.
I will be traveling around India for four months next year and I'm concerned with accommodation in more rural areas. I don't want to get tied down to particular areas with hostels or hotels so I thought taking a tent might be an option. My issues with this would be...
1. Extra weight to carry (If I take a tent I will no doubt need to bring more camping supplies)
2. Finding land to pitch the tent
3. Safety concerns (Crime/Wildlife)
If anyone has any advice it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Christian

Jaisalmer Camel Safari
Hi everyone,
We leave from Belgium to Rajasthan in two weeks.
We would like to do a camel safari for 2 days.
Two questions:
- is it possible to do this with the heat?
- does anyone has a recent experience with a good organiser?
Thanks!
