right now in Nepal. Just finished 6 month visa in India and love to go back earlier than after 2 month. Yesterday, I heard that India cancelled their 2 month gap in between next visit. I cant find more information about it. Does anybody knows more, or have some experience how to go around this rule.
I'm travelling into Delhi on the 21st Dec and flying out on the 27th, I'm intending to do a golden triangle tour, is anyone travelling around that time? Ideally I want to rent a car+driver and try to split costs.
Has anyone from Australia done the Rickshaw Run through India (http://www.theadventurists.com/the-adventures/rickshaw-run) and can give me some advice on where to get travel insurance? I have the international driving permit for a motorbike if that helps.
After reading many of the posts about these two treks. I am getting mixed views on whether or not these two treks can be done in this time frame. I arrive March 7th and leave the 31st out of Kathmandu and this is going to be my first time to Nepal. I am going to be travelling light 30L pack. I am 26, in relatively good shape, and used to hiking in altitude. I live in the Sierras in California and do a lot of hiking/trail running above 2500m at a relatively high-pace frequently. I am just having hard time gauging these distances as I have never been on the terrain before. I am also thinking about hiring a porter for one of the treks so I can do some running along the trail and was wondering if this is possible?
We are two people who will be reaching KTM on 20th dec 2012. We would like to take a heli chartered flight from KTM to Shyangboche by mostly Fishtail air (choice is open). We will fly back from Shyangboche to KTM on 29th Dec.
For both the flights, we are looking for travel companions to share the heli expenses.
Our trip starts and ends in KTM:
Arrival 20th Dec 9:30am
Departure 29th Dec 2:00 pm
Please let me know if you are willing to share. The heli should accommodate 4 or 5 people in all.
How is the situation in Dhaka at the moment with the Hartels etc? Is it likely to be a problem for travellers?
I arrive in a couple of days, and am slightly worried about it.
Hi I've heard there was a passenger ferry from India to Sri Lanka but I'm reading reports its been suspended. Can anyone shed any light on this? If it is suspended does anyone know of any other ship that will take passengers? Thanks, dan
I'm heading to Goa for New Years, arriving 29th December..
I'm a single female traveller and although I don't want a full on scene like Palolem, I want to keep safe and have a few places to hang out in the evening.
I am travelling to India this week and will be there for three weeks. I would like to book local flights once I arrive, for example, from Kolkata to Delhi to Mumbai...
Is it ok for me to book the flights once I arrive? I would rather not plan my trip in so much detail before I leave.
Thanks for your help!
Here are a few quick notes from my recent trip to Bangladesh (14 - 28 November), I hope it might be useful to some travellers.
At the time of writing £1 = 130 taka, $1 = 81 taka and EUR1 = 105 tk
The weather in November was just right for travelling, pretty warm during the day and slightly cooler at night, virtually no rain.
I was travelling with the brand new (edition 2) of the Bradt guide to Bangladesh and I found it to be mostly pretty useful, some of the city maps were a bit off but I imagine it’s quite a task to make an accurate map for most of these places!
Visa on arrival (UK passport) cost $51, I paid in £GBP and it wasn’t a problem. You have to go to 3 different stands to get the visa, first the payment counter, then to some guys who seem to approve the visa and finally to the special VOA immigration desk who actually put it in your passport. When I arrived there ... more »

Hello, I will be in Bangalore for New Years Eve and would like to have a plan for what to do. I'm not really looking for a nightclub experience. Any suggestions on how to find out what is going on in the city for more cultural events that night?
We are a group of three guys who land in Vasco da Gama the 6th of january and we depart from New Dehli the 5th of February.
The temporary plan is to travel by train up north via Pune, Mumbai, Surat, Ahmedabad. This streak will be pretty quick. Maybe 10-14 days, and we will then hire a chauffeur in Udaipur or Jodhpur and see a lot of places in Rajastan. Then we would like to end up seeing Taj Mahal and have maybe 3 or 4 days in Dehli.
We would love to have some feedback on this plan, and most of all, we would love to know of all the "must see"-places on the way, both along the way up the coast and in the region of Rajastan. I would say that our interist is 50/50 in nature/culture, so all suggestions are welcome.
Then a couple of more specific questions:
What is the easiest way to book and buy train tickets in India?
I see three options: Buying them on the train station... more »
I'm heading to India on short (-ish) notice, and planning on biking through rural areas. The trip will be around 5 months and my research suggests that I should get the vaccine for Japanese Enchephalitis, but it isn't stocked in the city I live in here in Canada. And 2 doses are required over a 4 week period. I leave January 9th, so it's not going to be possible here, but I'm paranoid about not having it.
I can't seem to find anything online that suggests I can pay to get it in India. I know the government has been doing major drives to get people the vaccine, but I can't find any sort of clinic that offeres it privately. I'm starting out in Mumbai, so that would be the first place I'd like to look for it. Does anyone have any contact info in India to plan for this vaccine?
Is it better to bring US$ to pay entrance fees to tourist sites or pay equivalent in local rupees?
