Looking for advice on a general itinerary and some specific questions
Hi to everybody!
I am excited planning my next solo trip to Sri Lanka, from 6 till 29th August and I came up with an itinerary combining cultural sites, beach, hills... a little bit of everything. An now... looking at the whole itinerary, I start thinking it could be too much stops and I might get tired of travelling every couple of days. However, trips don't seem to take that long. I was in Myanmar last year and had just 4 main spots, but transport was slow and distances very long, not as in Sri Lanka I guess.
I detail my plan so I might get some feedback about its feasibility... and also I ask some specific questions just in case somebody can give some light to my doubts :-)
Day 0. Travelling.
Day 1. Arriving at Colombo 8am. Day in Colombo.
Day 2. Colombo
Day 3. Travelling in the morning by bus to Galle. Day in Galle
Day 4. Galle
Day 5. Travelling to Ella. Day in Ella...

Hyderabad in July/August
Hi, I am travelling to Hyderabad mid July until mid August. I am a children's Occupational Therapist and am looking for somewhere I can volunteer to work with children with cerebral palsy, where they currently have few resources - not an established facility. Can anyone help please? I have a base to stay for the first few days when I first arrive but will be looking for somewhere after that. Many thanks

Malaria meds for Paksitan - Chloroquine vs Malarone
Hi all. So I'm trying to decide which malaria meds to get for my upcoming trip to Pakistan. I will be staying in a rural area in the Punjab. I've heard from a frequent visitor to Pakistan that Chloroquine works for them; however, information online suggests that malaria has become resistant to Chloroquine in Pakistan. I am not interested in the other meds as I do not want to risk the possible side effects. I would rather fork over the extra money for Malarone if Chloroquine is indeed ineffective for the area I will be in. Thoughts?

Need travel advice for Sri Lanka
Hello,
I am looking to visit Sri Lanka for around 5-6 days in the mid of August with my wife (both in mid 20s). We are on budget travel. We're looking to travel by bus/train and stay at budget accomodation.
Here is the tentative itinerary:
Day 1 - Fly into Colombo (preferably early in the day). Leave for Anuradhapura (AP) - around five hours. Visit the sites at AP, stay overnight.
Day 2,3 - Leave for Dambulla. Visit Dambulla, Sigiriya, Polonnaruwa over next two days. Stay at one of these places (which one?)
Day 4 - Leave for Kandy morning, See around, stay overnight (Not sure about this!)
Day 5 - Leave for Galle next morning, Visit around, Stay at Unawatuna for the night
Day 6 - Spend next day in Unawatuna, Leave for Hambantota/ Colombo. Fly back.
What would you say about the itinerary? Any suggestions for places to stay, practical advice, transportation etc? Feel free...

Rishikesh or Orissa?
Hi everybody,
We are 2 girls, from France and from Israel planning a short trip to India during July 2013. We have heard Manali area and Rishikesh became too commercial and unpleasant. Does somebody know a nice alternative for a stay of 15 days? What about Orissa State?
We have seen a great website with many links:
Orissa .
It seems as if they recommend very much Poori / Konarak / Calcutta.

I am going to do snowmans trek in september/October and to start of easy I asked my bank for Indian rupees. They gave me some 500 rupees which I read you cannot use. Does anyone have any exerience with this?

Where to buy Motorcycle, Delhi or Mumbia? Also: Sidecar & driving to Europe
Lots of questions but first things first I need to buy my ticket to India so need to know where to fly into. I have made up my mind to buy a motorcycle, spend 6 months in India/Nepal/Bangladesh, then drive it (somehow) back to Europe.
First questions is: Where should I buy the bike...Delhi or Mumbai (taking into account ease of finding one, price, ease of paperwork, etc.). I am leaning towards an Enfield 500. I know they are not so reliable and guzzle gas but style points do count for something! Still considering used or new...if used must be in great condition. Advice on which city? General advice?
Second topic: Sidecar...any thoughts? I am also planning to buy a sidecar attachment for it once I reach Calcutta. Maybe a Cozy. Yes I know it will make things more difficult in many ways but Im willing to take on the challenges. Anyone done this? Done it or not ha...

India itinerary - need some help on transportation and food
hi all,
off to india in a month (wohoo!) and would love some advice/tips/information on our itinerary.
the plan:
delhi-jaipur-jodphur-agra-varanasi-delhi. OR
delhi-varanasi-agra-jaipur-delhi.
will mostly take trains between these cities but having difficulty with the agra-varanasi (or varanasi-agra) route as they only go certain days of the week. are there buses that go this route? is there a website that shows bus schedules in india? in general, is train travel in india cheaper and more preferable than buses? if you can suggest a better itinerary.. are there sights/activities along the way that are can't-miss?
any tips on fantastic restaurants/food experiences in these cities would also be very helpful. i know i can get awesome food anywhere but firsthand recommendations would be much appreciated.
