Possible to switch passports for new visa in India?

Hi all,

I'm in India at the moment on a one-month visa which I received on arrival. I'm a dual-passport holder and I'm wondering whether it's at all possible to get a new visa on my other passport without leaving the country..? I can't find any info about this anywhere. I'm assuming it would be impossible, but I thought I'd just double check...

Accomodation

Hi,

After reading the thread about accomodations prices,i realized i should probably look it up,then checked on both hostel***** websites for the cheapest available in macleodganj and leh,and both seem to be 850 inr,which is a bit more than my budget can handle.
Are those places full of guesthouses/hostels not on websites and cheaper,and ill be able to just walk around and find a place,or are most places on websites?

My budget is of around 5000 euros for 10 months between india and nepal,and i planned to stay a few months in the hill stations and ladakh,should i plan again and just go to goa and monsoon-prone places as to get cheap prices?

Hostels for Rs 100 or less - still that cheap, right?

Hi guys.

I have a Lonely Planet guide to India, 13th edition from 2010 or so. The whole point in me going to India is because they have, according to the book, rooms for Rs 100. Granted, not everywhere, but plenty to facilitate a trip. However, upon checking online with one hostel, I was told their cheapest room is Eight Times more expensive than the listed price, at 800 rupees.

How can the price of any commodity jump by 800 per cent in two-three years? Is this some mistake? And do you good people have any ninja advice on finding hostels for Rs 100 or less per night?

Varanasi during Ganga Mahotsav

basically with my schedule, the only time I would be able to arrive in Varanasi is either in the middle of Ganga Mahotsav or I might be able to delay my travels to arrive a day or two right after it ends. Unfortunately this will be a short visit to Varanasi (3 or 4 days) and most people tell me to just come and enjoy the festival, however I think I would prefer Varanasi when there inst a million other visitors and am also concerned with accommodation availability restaurants etc.

My questions is how many people will still be lingering in Varanasi the first days after the festival ends? or will the city be back to normal pretty quickly?

I also should note I am a photographer and originally intended a more mellow visit trying to take my time and get to know the sadhus & aghori baba before trying to take their portraits.

Bus question

Hi,

i'll be arriving in delhi on june 12th,and plan to go to macleodganj on the 13th or 14th by bus.
Should i book a seat now,is it too late,or will i just be able to book it the day before?
(it'll be my second day in India,so i probably wont rough it and go with ac ;))

2 must have hotel bookings for ALL your stay,I repeat ALL.This not a joke. ???
3 must show recent bank statements proving you have sufficient funds (preferably in English ??? even if you are German or Spanish ???)
4 return flight tickets
5 write a letter explaining where you go and that you will leave Thailand...???
6have a guarantor in India ???
7have a guarantor in Thailand ???
8sign a paper accepting that if you do not get a Visa its your fault and that they keep the 2360 BHT ???
