To all travelers who are thinking of attending the spring festival of the Kalash; I just have been notified that no tourists are allowed to visit the valleys overnight. Only day trips are allowed. Being Pakistan this may change I guess once the elections are over.

So, I plan to go to BD/India around December or January. I am wondering if it would be better for me to fly into Kolkata then travel to Bangladesh via bus or train, spend my time in BD then back to India, or just fly into Dhaka and eventually after my visa expires go to Kolkata?
Do I need to show proof of return/outward ticket if I choose to start in Dhaka, or can I just tell them I want to travel to Kolkata with a bus or train?
I would already have my Indian visa of course before I left.
I followed the instructions and tried to sent email as posted however it got returned so does anyone ?Ilesmak? have the recurrent info since a lot may have changed since 2007

We are researching for a trip to Sri Lanka next January. Having 2 months to explore the island after getting a visa extension, we are looking for a place to spend a week to 10 days in as part of the trip. A city, town or village that is great to just wander around soaking up the local culture with enough sites (temples, monuments, traditional architecture, etc.) to keep one interested for a couple days, nice surrounding area for easy walks and bicycle rides, maybe a few good day trip possibilities, good food and accommodation; a cooler climate would be welcome too, if possible. Luang Prabang, Laos is just that kind of place for us and were are hoping for something similar in Sri Lanka.
So, we are wondering if Kandy is that type of place or is another city/town/village a better or alternate destination to consider. All replies are appreciated, but especially from anyone out ther... more »
I am going to be in Almora and Kausani in mid May and had an recent invitation to visit a friend in Uttarkashi. I am not sure how long it would take or the best way to get there from the east side of Uttarkhand and how much time I should plan to get there or where to break the trip.
I have to be back in Delhi on May 27th. What is the best way to get back from Uttarkashi to Delhi.
I am looking for people to join a trek from Yuksom to Goechala (8-9 days), starting 1st of May
We're preparing our trip in Sri Lanka in july and I have a lot of questions.
We're travelling with our 3 children, with public transports and we'd like to stay in not to expensive guest-houses (+- 30 euros/night) I hope it's possible in Sri LAnka.
We're not sure of all our stops, but this is our first idea:
KANDY - HAPUTALE - UDA WALLAWA (safari) - ELLA - ARUGAM BAY - BATICALOA - POLONARUWA ( and Sigiriya & Dambulla) - TRINCOMALEE ( Uppuvelli or Nilavelli) and If we have enough time : Jaffna.
So now the questions:
- Is there a bus from the airport to Kandy. We'll arrive at th airport at 5 AM, our idea is to take a bus directly to Kandy from the airport. We'd like to avoid the trip to Colombo. Is it possible ?
- As we'll sleep in low budget guest-houses, we're looking for swimming pool in hotel, open to non-residents.
off to India for a second time this Christmas with friends who will be going for a first time. We will both have 12 yr old daughters with us. Whilst I know prices increase significantly over this period and have also read that it can be a little rowdy/seedy. Do you think Goa is a goer for us?
when you're coming from rishikesh there's a bus at 13.30 and another at 21.30
is it the same going to rishikesh from delhi?
anyone has a phone number where i can book that bus?
I will be arriving in Kathmandu in 10 days to trek to EBC. Should I book my flight to Lukla and accomodation in advance or can that be arranged from Kathmandu and along the way? Can anyone recommend a good TAAN registered agent?
Thanks in advance
Is it possible to do this trek within 15 days? If it was straight from Simikot to Mount Kailash, then a flight from the closest airport in Tibet back to Kathmandu?
Would i have to arrange a driver for after Nara la pass before i start the trek, or would i be able to do this once i reach the town of Hilsa?
Im sure there are restriction for foreign travelers regarding traveling in a group with a driver and guide, would anyone be able to tell me about it?
Some of the days on the Humla trek seem short, so i was thinking a couple of them could be joined to cut some time. For example Simikot to Kermi may be able to be done in one day?
does anyone know if there is a place to shower at the airport in delhi?
