Help! Crazy Fast Trip to Poon Hill
Heyyy...
We would like to take the bus from Pokhara to Beni.
We will arrive at Pokhara airport around 4PM. So would it still be possible to go directly to Beni? (We prefer by bus because of the cheap price, but might be TAXI or jeep or van or whatever - just to make us reach there)
Please kindly recommend us where to take the bus and how much would it cost.
Any good Guide provider company?
Any good hostel in Beni where we can easily start of trekking journey from Beni to Ghorepani?

Trekking in the Himalayas
Greetings and salutations. I am looking for a 7-18 day trek somewhere in the himalayas. I am doing this very last minute and am heading to delhi on nov 12th. I can trek anytime between this date and dec 11th. I will be traveling alone. I am fit and used to traveling, trekking and being outdoors in all sorts of terrains but not a trekking pro. Any ideas of small groups I could join or where i can organise this? Or any other individuals looking to do the same? I am 30 something male. Do I still need a permit to enter and trek in Lahdak? or himachal pradesh or any other suggestions. And prices. I've had a bit of a look around but still on a bit of a goosechase. Thank you very much, I thank you - Sammo

Somewhere to hole up in Kerala for a week
Hey all,
Looking to fly to Kochi tomorrow from Srinagar via Mumbai. It's just too cold up here now!
I want to hole up somewhere in Kerala for about 5 days before hitting up Tamil Nadu for Diwali. Any suggestions? I want somewhere relaxed, not too expensive, with good food. I'd also like somewhere I could rent a motorcycle to explore the country side during the day. I don't really have a preference if it's near the beach or not... I don't want somewhere completely over run with tourists. Open to suggestions in other parts of southern India. I've done Hampi already and while it was nice, don't feel the need to go back right now.

Reservations essential in Dec/Jan?
Hi - We are travelling around Sri Lanka for 3 weeks in December and January and will be there over Christmas/New Year. We are travelling as a family (2 children 10yrs and 12yrs) and I wish to know if 'family' rooms are easy to come by or do we need to reserve in advance. Looking to stay in Mirissa for the last week (2-10 Jan). Thanks for any advice

ABC trek in 2 weeks, last minute questions
Hi
I am about to do the ABC trek in two weeks. Few questions:
1. Is there any snow currently along the way?
2 .What is the temperature currently at the lowest parts of the ABC trek and at the Annapurna Base Camp? (Still wondering will I need my warm down jacket or a lighter version)
3. Are there matresses at the teahouses, or should I bring my air filled mattress?
4. Will I to be able to get cash at ATM’s at Pokhara?
5. Can I pay with Visa at local restaurants at Pokhara? My hotels accepts visa, but they will charge me 4% extra.
6. Will I be able to use USD along the ABC trek, or is it Rupees only?
7. Are there any limits for luggage weight on the Kathmandu – Pokhara flights?
8. How early should I be at the Kathmandu airport when checking in for the Pokhara flight?
9. Regarding Micropur water cleansing tablets, I have water bottles that are only 0,9 litres, can I anywa...

Kerala
We are traveling with two other couples and us. We plan to spend a month in India in March and my challenge is to plan our six days in the Kerala region. I know it is a short time but if anyone could give me advice on what to "not miss" it would be greatly appreciated. A suggested itinerary would be even better.

Have you visited the Upper Mustang? If yes then do share you experiences here.

Transportation to Dalhousie
Hey, in end of november me and friend are heading to sri lanka. We'll be arriving on friday night ag 11 pm and are leaving on sunday night. Since we dont want to stay in colombo we planned to go to dalhousie on friday night, or, more realistic, on saturday morning. Now i read in the internet that there are several solutions:
1. Taxi: Bad roads, poor road conditions, 100 us dollars. So i think this isn"t an option
2. train: I think there is one departing at 8 am, so we'll be there at 1.30 pm
are there any other solutions? Bus isnt an option i guess, since its a suicidal trip ;)
What would u recommend?
FYI: we wanna hike up the mountain at mhhh... maybe 10.30 pm so that we can (hopefully) see the sunrise on sunday morning. Then we are going to descend again and have to colombo again. When we descend at 8 am and plan 5 hours, its 1 pm and we still got 10 hours to get back ...

Fake bank notes in India
Hi Everyone,
Here's something of interest and concern!
While browsing the site "About.com" - India Travel, I found an article about fake money in India and how to be carefull, etc., but the following direct quote from the article really jumped out and has me questioning and worrying:
"The Reserve Bank of India has stated that 435,607 fake notes were detected during 2010-11. Yet, the really shocking thing is that these fake notes are often found in cash withdrawn from ATM machines at banks, particularly fake 500 and 1,000 rupee notes."
How true/correct is this? I thought ATM's at banks were safe? Have any of the regular contributors to LP ever had a problem?
What do you think?
Thanks,
pv

Electrical Plugs
Hi
I am trying to find out which electrical plugs are used in India. A google search shows both 2 prong round European type plugs and also 3 prong round plugs. Are both used or is one of them more commonly used? I only want to take one adaptor so any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
