i'm thinking of hiking to bharmour from mcleod ganj on my own
can anyone share their experience there? is it easy to find places to stay? how long does it take? is there a bus at the end to come back to mcleod?
or alternatively, go on from there to spiti valley
thank you for the help!!
I shall travel to Nepal in the middle of June 2013
Does anyone know about a good tour operator in Thamel or around it who offers city tour package on daily basis at inexpensive price?
I shall manage my own accommodation.
1. I read lots of thing about public transport and the advice not to take them. But if you plan to travel around Sri Lanka and if youre not planning to leave a place every day (and stay for 2 or 3 days in each place), isnt it a bit stupid to take a driver. Wouldn't it be easier to use public transport (but im not a hero when it comes to crazy busses) then and maybe sometimes a riksja or a taxi?
2. Is a taxi so much more expensive then using a private driver? I think it is nicer to travel on your own to have some privacy and to find accomodations by asking when arriving on a place.
I'm off to India this August (monsoon season!) and wanted a bit of advice as I'm considering tweaking my itinerary....again. I have 23 days.
Kashmir (Pahalgam, Srinigar & Sonamarg)
but the more reading I do on all the amazing stuff to do near Leh (nubra valley, pangong tso etc..) I am wondering if I should scrap Rishkiesh to give myself more time in Leh.
What do you think? Is rishkiesh good (I'm not planning to do yoga or anything)?

Desperately searching for a pub for the game later. Tried the Irish pub in lazimpat with no success. It's on sky sports.
We are heading down to Goa next week (yes, I know it is monsoon) & looking for an a/c place with a kitchenette or even an apartment. We plan to stay for a week or a month. We have previously stayed in Colva but would be open to any suggestions.
I am trying to organise a guide and porter for 2-3 people to do the Annapurna Circuit from Besisahar to Muktinath commencing mid Sept 2013. I have contacted a few supposedly independent guides in Kathmandu but most appear to be agencies as they want to organise travel, accommodation, food etc for the whole trip. In other words a package. All I want is a quote guide and porter. From what I have been able to find in blogs etc, a guide should cost about $25/day and a porter about $15/day including their accommodation and food. Is this about right? Does anyone have a contact for a guide who would be happy to organise something on this basis?
When I first Starting planning my trip to Sri Lanka I had planned on staying in Sri Lanka for 3 weeks maybe and then heading to India for another 3. Now I am doing more research on Sri Lanka and am debating weather to stay put in Sri Lanka... Sounds like there is plenty to see and explore in Sri Lanka, just wondering if a 5-6 week trip is worth it to stay there or head to India.
Any advice would be great.
