Planning for ABC trek with kids aged 10 & 13 in April'13

We are planning to do ABC trek in mid April'13 with kids aged 10 & 13. The route suggested by one of the agencies is as folows
Day1 - Pokhara - Nayapul - Kimche
Day2 - to Chhomrong
Day 3 - to Dovan
Day 4 - to Deurali/MBC
Day 5 - to ABC
Day 6 - to Himalaya
Day 7 - to Sinuwa
Day 8 - to Jhinu
Day 9 - to Pothana
Day 10 - to Phedi & Pokhara

Since we are planning to do this trek kids, wanted advise/inputs on the suggested itinerary.
Since typical route suggests Jhinu to Nayapul in a single day, is this advisable.

Thx in advance

last stopp Sri Lanka -recommendations welcome

Hey guys!

My brother & myself were travelling around Asia & Australia for about 10month. Sri Lanka will be our last destination before we're going back home.
We arrive at Colombo Airport late at night of the 16. December.

Our plan is to find a nice place for the night, then head to Kandy, Sigiriya, Nuwara Eliya, Uola Walawe & then to Waikkal where we're going to meet our family (on the 21st) for Christmas.

Any recommendations on transport & nice, but cheap accommodation is very much appreciated!! :)

Thanks a lot guys!

Manipur and Nagaland

In one week, I shall be leaving for a four month wander around India. This is the third year in succession I have done this.

This time, I should like to visit (among other places) Manipur and Nagaland, largely because I should like to see just how far the Japanese managed to go during the last War. However, these states are restricted areas.

Obviously, I can ask about this when I get there; but does anybody know what the present situation is?

Also, how are things in Srinigar at the moment?

If you are planning to go to Mirissa...

...stay in Ourworld! The guesthouse ia awesome and the family is so nice! Two really clean, good and cheap rooms, 50 m from the beach, best food in town and the owner will cook from your ingredients (get some king prawns from the fish market)They are re-building the place after trunami totally destroyed it...Great place!

6 week honeymoon! India, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Dubai

Hi,

I am looking at a honeymoon destination for 6 weeks. We would like to go to India, Sri Lanka and Nepal. We will stop in Dubai to visit family for a few nights.

We are keen to spend a few relaxing nights in a nice hotel with good food around then we will be over the honeymoon period and ready to travel! We would like to see the touristy sights and also sights off the beaten track but accessible. We are well travelled (Europe, Africa and some parts of Asia) but we have started getting a bit bored of seeing ruins etc.

We love hanging out with locals and getting to know their culture. We are very passionate about our food and would like a bit of night life! Any suggestions of where to go, what to do would be much appreciated! I'm sorry this is a bit vague but I have researched India and Sri Lanka and still can't seem to find the info I am looking for! Thanks in advance!! more »

Female reserving hotel in Dhaka, Bangladesh

Hi,

I'm a solo-female traveller, planning to visit Bangladesh in February 2013. It will be my first visit to the county. I've searched the forum and can't see anything about my main query which is accommodation in Dhaka. I tried calling Hotel Ramna to make a reservation as my visa application form indicates I need to list where I'll be staying upon arrival. However, the hotel told me to call back the day before my planned arrival date and wouldn't make a reservation for me. I understand it's quite in advance but I'd like to have accommodation for my arrival organised before leaving, and need to apply for my visa this month because I need my passport for other visa applications and travel plans. Has anyone experienced anything similar or does anyone have advice? Perhaps I should just keep calling different hotels until I find one??

Secondly, I'm wondering if anyone has advice on ... more »

Need some help booking a hostel/hotel for my partner

My partner was told by her hostel they would have a pick up and hostel booked for her when she gets off the train in Gaya.
She is going to bodh gaya and needs a single room, preferably with bath, tonight.
Her train comes in at 9pm Indian time. I’d like some help getting her a lift from the train station and to her place to stay.

Thank you

Mike

Leisure but healthy trek in Bhutan

I am 56 but very sportive and energetic. I will be travelling to Bhutan with my girl friend in mid March, as I was told by my agent that, it is the perfect time of the year to do leisure and scenic trekking. We are working on Bhumthang Owl Trek which is 3 days. Less was written on this trek and all I have is the itinerary sent by my agent. Did anyone read about it or did the trek or any idea of any trek ranging from 3 to 10 days leisure trek. Thanking you in advance

book ahead in december? south

Hi,

Partner and I are arriving Dec 26 and departing 8th Jan.

I am hoping that we can backpack around and not book any accommodation ahead in the south (Tangalle and the like)... i.e. show up somewhere and look around for somewhere to stay.

Obviously we are not fussed about luxury or cleanliness or accessories - a bed is just fine.

This is how I travelled around India but I am worried that this is not the case in the south of Sri Lanka as all the accommodation I can find on Google is booked out already.

Any advice would be great as I don't want to show up and there is no where to stay.

Thanks!!
