Leh-Manali highway, is doing it twice too much?
Hello everyone,
myself and my boyfriend are planning on going to Leh in a couple of weeks using the Manali-Leh highway. Ideally we would like to fly back to Delhi from Leh but the flights are coming in at $290 each which is well above our budget.
I'm just wondering would it be crazy to take the highway both too and from Leh or should we just buy the flight?
Has anyone driven both to and from Leh?
Your thoughts would be really appreciated,
thanks!

Ideas for a honeymoon?
My fiancee will be getting married next April and we are looking for honeymoon possibilities... we are trying to settle on something mutual, as I want something interesting with some amount of cultural substance while she wants something on a beach, preferably with the phrase "all-inclusive" somewhere involved. So (among other ideas) I thought about India.
For a 2 week honeymoon, can both of these desires be satisfied? And is the private beach/all-inclusive idea something that even exists in India/Goa or am I looking in the wrong place?
And of course, if there are any other locales that come to mind to hit both of these targets, do please recommend.

Advice needed - Mumbai to Ajanta/Ellora, then to Hampi
Good Morning:
Planning our southern India trip one step at a time. Arriving in Mumbai. First stops after Mumbai is to see Ajanta and Ellora caves.
How does flying from Mumbai to Aurangabad and then day trips by bus to Ajanta and Ellora from Aurangabad sound? Any recommendations for places to stay (mid range, clean, AC, private bathroom) in Aurangabad?
Next, we may go to Hampi. Should we go back to Mumbai and fly? Is there a way to get to Hampi by train from Mumbai? Or, should we fly to Hyderabad from Aurangabad, or fly to Hyderabad from Mumbai and then take a bus or train to Hampi?
All suggestions gratefully accepted. Thank you.
Doug

India East Coast
I will spend three to four weeks in India from mid August to mid-September, with a definite stay in Chennai around the end of August for a conference. I know it's hot and humid, I have already traveled the west coast in the same weather. What itinerary, beyond Chennai, would you recommend if I wanted to stick mostly to the East, and how long in each place?
Thanks,

Ideas for day trips or short term getaways from Delhi
Hello all. I'll be going on a tour in Rajasthan in Oct 2013. Tour includes Delhi, Jaipur, Mandawa, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Bundi, Agra and a 3 day side trip to Varanasi. At the end of the tour, I will be back in Delhi. I would like to stay in the country another week on my own and would welcome any suggestions you may have about what I could reasonably do in my final week. I will be flying home to Canada from Delhi at the very end.
I love anything to do with music, textiles, art, cooking and animals, even a quick volunteer stint, if possible for only a week.
Your ideas are most welcome. This is my first time to India and I just don't know how easy it is to get around in a one week period.
Thanks!
MM

Travelling with dual passport -- flights and visa
Hi all,
I hold both a Finnish and Australian passports so, as it turns out, I'm one of the lucky few able to get a month-long visa on arrival in India (with my Finnish passport). I'm currently in Thailand, where I've travelled on my Australian passport. I'm confused about which passport to use to book my flight to India -- Aussie or Finnish? I'm worried if I fly in on an Australian passport they'll kick up a fuss about giving me a visa; but do I need to fly out of Thailand using my Aussie passport?
And another question. My plans aren't fixed at this stage -- I may wander up to Napal -- so I don't have a return ticket booked. I'm wondering if this will be a problem when getting my visa on arrival. The India immigration website seems to suggest I may need an onward ticket, but it's not very clear.
Does anyone have any experience with this?
Thanks!

Wifi and Ladakhi Treks
Hello
Finally doing a trip of a lifetime..having spent 9 months in the himalayas over twenty years ago now I am taking my daughter out to show how the wonders (and sometimes pains) of India. We travelling on a budget unfortunately and was wondering wethar its worth taking a laptop. My daughter would like to start blogging and posting pictures so would like toknow wethar wifi is available in budget accomodation. Were possibly travelling up from Amritsar to Srinigar-Leh-Manali-Dharamsala-Delhi. Or would it just be better to use the internet cafes?
And is it possible to do Independent treks up in Ladakh or Spitti? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks
ACH
