Travelling buddy in July (India)?
Hi,
So I'm travelling in India from 27 June to 26 July, and am looking to see if there's any groovy travel buddies who might like to join. I don't mind travelling on my own, but a having a partner has its advantages.
I'm flying into Bangalore, then heading to Chennai and surrounds for a bit, then up to Dehli, around the golden triangle, into the deserts a bit then the rest up in the Himalayas.
But I don't really have a plan, that's just what I'm thinking right now.
I'll be going pretty budget (I'm a uni student).
Give me a yell if you might be interested to do some of the journey together.
Best Sri Lankan beach in August
Hello
Would love some recommendations of a suitable beach for me this coming August. I imagine that would be on the east coast.
Not too busy, comfortable mid range to high end accommodation nearby. No high rises or resorts. But importantly a safe swimming beach where although being careful, I can relax in some knowledge that the currents aren't lethal and the waves aren't going to hammer me. I understand the dangers of the sea and I can swim but I am not brilliant.
Thank you in advance for your suggestions

India East Coast
I will spend three to four weeks in India from mid August to mid-September, with a definite stay in Chennai around the end of August for a conference. I know it's hot and humid, I have already traveled the west coast in the same weather. What itinerary, beyond Chennai, would you recommend if I wanted to stick mostly to the East, and how long in each place?
Thanks,

Ideas for day trips or short term getaways from Delhi
Hello all. I'll be going on a tour in Rajasthan in Oct 2013. Tour includes Delhi, Jaipur, Mandawa, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Bundi, Agra and a 3 day side trip to Varanasi. At the end of the tour, I will be back in Delhi. I would like to stay in the country another week on my own and would welcome any suggestions you may have about what I could reasonably do in my final week. I will be flying home to Canada from Delhi at the very end.
I love anything to do with music, textiles, art, cooking and animals, even a quick volunteer stint, if possible for only a week.
Your ideas are most welcome. This is my first time to India and I just don't know how easy it is to get around in a one week period.
Thanks!
MM

Clothing needed for ABC trek, leaving tomorrow
Currently in Pokhara, we have decided on a whim to embark on the ABC trek. As it wasn't planned, we only have lighter clothing and I was wondering what kind of clothing would I need at the very least to be comfortable. Would a heavy yak wool sweater with a sweatshirt and raincoat/windbreaker be sufficient? Do I need gloves/toque? I already have hiking boots, socks, pants, sweatshirt and raincoat. Also, would sleeping fully clothed with whatever blankets are provided be warm enough at this time of uear (ideally I wouldnt buy a sleeping bag )?
Thanks a lot, hoping to start the trek in 24 hours!

Mid-range accommodation in Nuwara Eliya
I have looked at a lot of places on the internet and find the prices steep and the reviews less than enthusiastic.
I hope that someone might have a recommendation to a pleasant, centrally located place in the LP "mid-range" price. We plan to be there early January 2014.
Thanks in advance for the advice.

Feedback on Sri Lanka Summer Itinerary
I'm going to Sri Lanka for 2.5 weeks this summer.
My priorities for the trip are visiting the ancient temples and sitting on a quiet beach with a book for a few days. I'd also like to visit Galle, but I'm not sure if that's a good idea given weather and geography. I also would like to fit in a day hike if it's convenient.
I'd love some feedback on my itinerary:
Sunday, July 14, 2013 - Land at at midnight
Monday, July 15, 2013 - Travel to Kandy
Tuesday, July 16, 2013 - Kandy
Wednesday, July 17, 2013 - Kandy
Thursday, July 18, 2013 - Kandy
Friday, July 19, 2013 - travel to Dambulla
Saturday, July 20, 2013 - Dambulla
Sunday, July 21, 2013 - Dambulla, day trip to Sirigiya
Monday, July 22, 2013 - Dambulla, day trip to Polunnaruwa
Tuesday, July 23, 2013 - travel to Trincomale
Wednesday, July 24, 2013 - Beach in Uppuvelli or Niavelli
Thursday, July 25, 2013 - Beach in Up...

Trek partners wanted - Snow Lake via Lukpe La and Hispar La - Aug 2013
Hi all
I am one person trying to get a few people together to do the Biafo-Hispar (Snow Lake) Trek this August. I am interested in adding a few more days to explore the Lukpe La which is north east of Snow Lake (Sim Gang glacier) because the scenery here is mindblowing. The Lukpe La is not too difficult and so no high altitude porters are needed and offers fantastic views of Snow Lake and the Braldu glacier. The plan is then to head to the Hispar La and continue on to Hunza. There could be an option to attempt the Khurdopin pass but as this is more technical and weather dependent, i am probably going to pass on this.
I have negotiated a good price but this is dependent on having 4 people.
