Hi,
I was hoping to go up north to Himachal Pradesh in January. Want to check out Mcleod ganj, Manali, do some some trekking hopefully. I've been doing some reading and it seems like a lot of places shut down this time of year. Exactly how cold does it get there in january and can you still go trekking this time of year?
Would I be better off going to another part of the country and going back there another time of year?
Any advice and or suggestions are greatly appreciated..

Hi
In December my wife and I are visiting Jaipur, Jaisalmer, Udaipur and perhaps Bundi. Is it possible to visit temples and see the ceremonies and rituals performed there? The last time I was in India most of the temples were closed to foreigners but in Tamil Nadu we could visit along with the hindus. Will this be possible in any of these cities?
Thanks

Hi, me and my friend are on an overland journey from Belgium to Nepal.
Currently we are in Tehran and are thinking over our plans how to reach India. We would like to avoid Pakistan if that`s possible. Are there travellers who are in the same position? Are there travellers going by car via Turkmenistan and all the other Stans, going that way to India?
We read that taking a ship from Bandar Abbas to India is not possible, but still we want to believe it is possible and maybe someone has experience with this?
Thanks for any advice.

Hi All, I am in Dhaka for one day. arriving at 9am and leaving at Midnight.......I know this is not long enough . But C'est la vie.
I want a guide to pick me up from the airport, show me around for the day and drop me back at airport. Does anyone have a suggestion??:
1) what are the one day highlights in Dhaka......bout ride on river?...I love spicey food
2) Who might be a good guide with transport. I can be part of a small group , or solo. Either is OK with me.
Many thanks, Rick

Hello,
Anyone familiar with the Village Guesthouse in Palolem? Lots of good reviews in Tripadvisor, but all reviewers posted just 1 review, so that makes me a bit suspicious.

Hi everyone,
I'll be arriving on a Airasia flight at Cochin airport on the 2nd December. I've looked at the airports website, and some Cochin tourist sites, but none of them mention public transport from the airport into Cochin town. Does anyone know the best way to do this?
I've read something about prepaid taxis, but I don't really know what that means. I'm on my own, but only have a small rucksack, so a crowded bus is fine, if there is one. Any tips welcome, it's the first time I've been to India, so I know pretty much nothing at the minute! Thanks
Terri

I just arrived in Lumbini, the Buddhist pilgrimage sitein southern Nepal, yesterday. Luckily we're leaving today, because there's a big Tibetan monks' festival beginning today and there are NO hotel rooms available. I'm told that rooms will be tight till the first of Dec 2009. We had to pay Nepali Rs 900 for a typical cheap hotel room in the Lumbini VIllage Lodge
So if you're going to Lumbini in the next 10 days, be sure to make a hotel reservation before arrival, and don't arrive in the afternoon expecting to find a room as usual. There are 1500 monks and hundreds of other Tibetans filling all the hotels as well as dozens or hundreds of tents out past the Sakya monastery (just past the entrance to the pilgrimage area).
There are still plenty of spaces at the Korean monastery's "guesthouse" which has simple rooms for groups. Each is a big room with a kitchen area in the back, an...

My girlfriend and I are heading on a 2 month trip to south-east Asia and India. Should be say we are engaged to be married prevent offence or explanation in these countries, espically India, or is this unnecessary?
We are Australian and in our early 20's. We are also going to Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Malaysia.
Cheers for your help!

I am just wrapping up my 4th trip to India and found a wonderful place to stay that I would like to share with other travellers. It is very affordable, excellent value, and well located.
My husband and I have used Mayas Guest House as a base on our travels throughout India. This lovely bed and breakfast is located in a quiet safe neighborhood about 6 km from the airport. Since everything is so spread out in Delhi, we thought this would be a good choice. We can walk to a new deluxe shopping mall (10 minutes away) with western food as well as a selection of other food items. There is a movie theatre and many stores for regular items. There is a park nearby(5 minute walk) for running or walking. A man that sells furit right outside the complex. The Delhi Haat market with beautiful handicrafts(non touirsty and well priced) is a short tuk tuk ride away.
This is a mom and daug...
