Hope you are all enjoying the beginning of a sunny spring/summer (at least in Germany;).
I am writing as I have a couple of questions about Montenegro, questions that I was hoping someone could help me out with.
My friends and I are planning a trip to Montenegro this summer, ideally between the last week of July and the first week of August. I have heard that Ryanair will start flying from this July onwards, but not sure exactly which airport. So, my questions are, does anyone which area we should be looking at? Ideally it should be walking distance from the beach, not too far from the airport, in a smallish city or easy enough to get to, and if possible also near the lake and natural park.
There's about 6-8 of us in the group, so we were thinking of renting a house for about ten days. Do you also have any good websites for property search, and know how much we s... more »
I’m going to Croatia in next May. I’m a solo traveler and I wonder if it is easy to rent a single private room in Korcula, Hvar and Trogir if I have not made a previous reservation.
I have searched hostels in these towns but only double occupation is offered and I’m not in disposition of pay that supplement. The dormitories choice is not for me.
I want to know if will be landladies renting sobes at bus stations at my arrival (for only one person). My budget is 20-30 euros/day
Thanks in advance for any information
Hello to all,
I'm currently planning my schedule for a trip to Moldova and just noticed that Orheiul Vechi is closed on Mondays. Does anyone know if the whole complex is closed that day, which would mean we can't neither visit the church nor the cave monastery or is it just the headquarters across the street at the parking lot? I was there before, but on a Sunday...
Has anyone ever hiked from there to the village of Trebujeni? Is it worth it and how long does it take?
Thanks for any replies!
My girlfriend and I are heading to Croatia in June, 16 nights from early June. Itinerary is generally sorted and most but not all accom pre booked, wondering if those here could answer a few questions I have. General info about us - early to mid 30s, like good food and wine, both pretty fit so would like the odd hike, kayak tour etc, and travelling on a mid range budget.
Here's the itinerary, in order:
Split - 3 nights but really 2 full days as fly in pretty late.
Vis - 3 nights, no accom booked
Hvar - 2 nights
Korcula - 2 nights
Mljet - 2 nights, no accom booked
Dubrovnik - 4 nights
Question 1: we have 2 full days in Split. Figure 1 full day to check Split out, leaving another full day. Any suggestions? Spend second day in Split again, or do something different? I wondered about Plitvice Lakes NP... I can see it is a fair way to travel though 3hr trip each way s... more »
My husband and I are planning a backpacking trip to Croatia and Slovenia in June. We have travelled other places and mostly stayed in hostels, but this time we thought we would try our hand at camping. What we aren't sure of is what we need. Considering we are planning on taking trains, buses, and ferries to our various locations we would prefer to carry with our packs as little as we can get away with.
1) Is the best idea to carry a tent and sleeping bag with us?
2) Can we rent a tent in some places?
3) Could we carry a bedroll and be warm enough at night?
Any advice is appreciated!

Hello, I am a US citizen and passport holder with a one-way ticket to Yerevan (layover in UK) at the end of May. I am a less experienced traveler and have some concerns regarding the one-way ticket.
I have been hearing conflicting stories about the trouble people get entering with one-way tickets. Should I be concerned about being hassled? Would appreciate any shared advice/experiences...
I will stay 3 days in Kiev in the beginning and then start the circle
Krim - Odessa / (Danube Delta?) - Moldava - Carparten - Kiev
or vice versa.
In what direction should I start in the means of weather, accomodation (low budget hostels), transport?
I try to get around the EM hype.
Is it better to go in the beginning to Krim because there are not so many tourists and its not too hot and in the end to Carparten,
or is there a rainy season in the Carparten and I better start in the Carparten and go in the end to Krim?
Going to Lviv is no must (I know Krakau) - in the end it´s impossible because there are football matches.
Or should I start in the direction where I get the next trainticket (to Lviv or Krim)?
Oh god, it makes me headaches - I cannot cancel my ticket to Ukraine and when I booked I had no idea about EM.
Are any travellers in SANLIURFA right now who want to meet?
I am here until tuesday night, then take the nightbus to VAN and will be there until like Thursday
I will be from 25. May to 15. June in Ukraine. To escape from the EM-hype I will also go to Moldava.
There is no guide book, no maps and I checked all informations in this forum.
I will stay in Chisinau hostel and checked their "getting to" infos in booking-com.
So my questions are:
I will comming by bus from Odessa and then?
Where can I change money? At the border? I don`t use ATM but Euro cash.
I arrive in the busstation - which one? central, north, south station?
I will need small money for the bus to get to the city.
Language: I hardly learned some phrases Ukrainian. But what language do they speak??? I know I can not expect any english.
How to say in Moldavian:
Maybe thats it for the moment, thank you for reply
Hello! In August Im finishing the Peace Corps with my boyfriend and we are hoping to end it all with a big trip. Our budget is 1500 dollars each (including flights) and we want to travel for up to 25 days. We are very excited but unfortunately, planning this trip is starting to feel a bit overwhelming seeing as there are so many great places we wish we could visit!...Anyways, I was hoping to get some advice from all you experienced travelers! Here is our itinerary:
Chisinau, Moldova (this is where we live now)>Albania (we chose Albania because we heard that its fun, cheap, and beautiful from friends)
Albania>Greece (Athens and Crete?)
Turkey>New York (The flight bag should cost around 600 dollars I believe)
We are pretty flexible. The only place we must see is Istanbul. My questions are: Is this trip reasonable to do on our budget in 25 days? If not, what would you ... more »

As part of a larger trip, my GF and I will be arriving in Sarajevo by bus from Vienna on June 11 in the morning. I want to spend at least 2 full days in Sarajevo. I need help figuring out what to see and what route to take in the limited time I have. We will not have a car so this is all public transport. We need to be in Dubrovnik by June 20 morning.
What I am thinking is spending 3 days in Sarajevo, seeing Lukomir Highlands while there, then taking a bus to Durmitor (via Niksic)... spend 3 days, go to Kotor, spend 2 days there, bus to Mostar, spend a day and night, and then bus to Dubrovnik the next morning.
My questions are:
1. Would you recommend durmitor over Sutjeska and Tara River?
2. should we stop at Tara River on Bosnia side instead of seeing it on Montenegro side as part of Durmitor?
3. Basically what route would you take in these 8 days? Im tryin... more »

This is a short trip, we plan on 3 days in Istanbul and 3 days in western med (Olympos,Oludeniz,Fethiye) for 3 (4?) days as well.
Was thinking of doing Istanbul first and acclimate, check out the various sites and use the rest of the trip to relax... want something nice but not too extravagant even though this would be me and the mrs honeymoon, we prefer culture over commercial lavish accommodations. We are muslims so would like to check out the local mosques, other cultural sites, and enjoy the outdoors. Also don’t want to make things too rushed...
plan so far :
Friday aug 31 2012
Arrive in Istanbul (IST:Atatürk) @1pm from London UK (leave heathrow 7am)
Utilize local transport & Check into hotel
(need suggestions on where to stay - was thinking somewhere close to Sultanahmet park)

Am hoping someone out there will be able to help me out. I will be traveling to Kiev, Ukraine for the UEFA Euro 2012 in June/July. I've booked myself on an Aeroflot flight from New Delhi to Moscow that arrives around 9:15 am local time. I then have an Aerosvit (operated by Aeroflot) flight to Kiev later that day at around 5 pm in the evening. So basically i have a transit of about 8 hrs or so at Moscow Airport. I do have to change my terminal but fly out from the same airport and have no intentions of leaving the airport premises.
My question is, do i need a transit visa for my travel? I've called up the authorities here in India, but rather than having the matter solved i'm even more confused now. The Mumbai embassy said yes i do need a transit visa. While the High Commission in New Delhi says i dont need one. So still kinda confused. I fly back to New Delhi the same wa... more »
My question is similar to the one posted by hitchbitch two days ago. We arrive at 12:05 into Ataturk on May 13 (Sunday) and have a flight at 18:45 from Sabiha Gokcen on the same date. The schedule of busses (Havatas) to Taksim from Ataturk then to Habiha appears to line up.
Is my assumption of making connections reasonable? Do these busses run as scheduled? WIll traffic be lighter on Sunday? Our back-up plan would be to take a taxi (at a huge price).
Any information and advice is greatly appreciated
