Major budget airlines in and out of Croatia or Slovenia

I plan to visit Croatia/Slovenia and Czech Republic later this year from Australia.

I’m looking to fly into and out of a major hub (such as Athens, Paris, Frankfurt) from Australia and then connect to Prague and somewhere in Coatia/Slovenia.

So who are the major budget airlines who fly in and out of Croatia or Slovenia and what cities?

Thanks.

Baku to Yerevan transport

Air travel between Baku and Yerevan is circuitous and train travel involves at least one change. Is it possible to hire a car for the trip between these two cities and how much might it cost?

Would appreciate ideas on whistle-stop Baltics itinerary

Hi all,

I would massively appreciate some further ideas and suggestions for branching out on my summer itinerary to the Baltics. I am the first to admit I know little of the region other than what I have read and know from my experiences that this advice can be very personal and sometimes inaccurate!

Day 1: PM arrival in Helsinki
Day 2: Helsinki
Day 3: PM ferry to Tallinn
Day 4: Tallinn
Day 5: Tallinn
Day 6: AM bus to Riga
Day 7: Riga
Day 8: Riga
Day 9: AM bus to Vilnius
Day 10: Vilnius
Day 11: PM flight back to London.

This is typical of my itineraries on most my trips due to constraints on annual leave and price. Does anyone know whether prices for foot passengers on the ferry and buses go up nearer the time or are they fixed? This is only a planned route but I want to keep it as fluid as possible!

I appreciate this is really basic information. We will be a gr... more »

group tour - bottled water dillema

hi,
im going on a 17 day group tour of Turkey and Im reading about the hotels we are staying in. Im finding that many of them have an outrageous policy of not allowing any outside food or drink, YES even water. Most of the hotels charge about 4 euros for a bottle, and i drink at least 6 a day - i will go broke!
there are grocery stores nearby but they say that they check your bags and will confiscate purchases until you leave. One travelocity review even said that the maid found outside water in her room and they charged them the hotel's price for that water!!
so im pretty sure i could sneak in a water or 2, BUT is there something i could buy to purify the tap water? i do have a mini electric tea kettle - would boiling it be enough? (so i guess i would have to buy one hotel water to refill so i could be seen outside of my room with it!).
It is hard to believe that the hotels a... more »

veggies....

Probably a bit of a pointless question but I will try anyway:
are there any local vegetarian dishes or snacks? i know the cuisine is very meat based and it ain't easy in Europe, especially the further east you go but sometimes there are nice dishes that dont pop up on tourist menus (which we dont use anyway!)
any ideas appreciated - thanks, anna

Thank you very much for your help ! :)

clubbing in riga tomorrow?

hi folks,

admittedly i might be leaving this a little late, but my girlfriend and i will be in riga tomorrow (saturday 25th may) and are up for going clubbing - anyone got any suggestions?

preferably good dance music - house, techno, drum and bass, that sort of thing ... wouldn't mind going to a fabric style superclub, or somewhere more intimate, as long as the music's banging and it's a wicked party.

any advice gratefully recieved!

Booking of international trains online

Hi,

I would like to book one cabin from Tbilisi to Yerevan, have registered on country's railway-website (www.tickets.railway.ge), but cannot find in city-list international destinations like Yerevan (or Georgian name "Erevanshi") or Baku.

Is it only possible to book regional trains in advance now or what could be the problem?

Trains in Croatia!!! (Oh and other bits and bobs)

Hello!

I am travelling around Croatia for around 10 days. I start in Pula and then want to head down to Hvar. I'm travelling end of August - early Sept. Cost is an issue so I was thinking a £46 Croatia inter-rail ticket. I know it is a long stuffy train from Pula to Split but I was wondering if it is cheaper buying on the day or even a bus ?

I am also travelling from Split to Zadar for a flight back so the inter-rail ticket would also cover that.

Obviously I have to get from Split to Hvar and I don't really fancy swimming so what are the options for boats ? I have looked on the internet but the timetables and options are confusing me and I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on it! I was thinking, night train from Pula to Split then early boat across? Do not know how feasible that is but I would be happy to stay a night in Split.

Also is it possible to get from H... more »

Hi!

Is there a direct bus from İzmit to İznik or do they all go via Sakarya?
Those sites find no option:

Do in need to book hostels on islands in advance in June?

Hi, flying to Split for one night on 11th June then want to spend a week visiting Brac, Hvar and Vis before meeting up with mates near Dubrovnik. I've booked my hostel in Split but didn't want to book anything else so I can go with the flow and keep options open if meet anyone to travel with, also don't know which is best order to do islands i.e. can you get ferries between all? Brac is closest to Split so would seem sensible to do that first.

Do I need to book at least my first few nights after Split before I go? I know you can get lodgings in June easy but wasn't sure if same for hostels? Didn't want to have to stay somewhere too expensive or the other way, not very nice!

Any advice greatly received.

Thanks
