Wrocław to Bieszczady National Park

Hello,

Myself and a friend are trying to get from Wrocław to the Bieszczady National Park. I know we can easily get to Kraków but then I do not know how to get down to the Bieszczady from there or which town to go to in the Bieszczady to begin hiking from. I have found some buses from Kraków to Ustrzyki Dolne but they seem to be a bit expensive and very slow.

I was wondering if this was normal or if there are any other options?

thanks,

Alistair

Athens to Istanbul by ferry

Hello all.

I am planning to travel via ferry from Athens > Chios > Cesme, bus to Izmir, train from Izmir to Bandirma, ferry from Bandirma to Istanbul. This will occur in April, this year.

Has anyone gone this route? This was not the most commonly recommended route and finding it was the result of digging which makes me need to question it's feasibility. The more common suggestions arrive further south in Turkey and are not connected by train as Izmir seems to be, and for me this train connectivity makes it more appealing. Also, all of the ferries involved are reported to run daily, year round, whereas none of the other more frequently suggested routes do. But again, I am seeking confirmation of this information.

I am planning to reach Istanbul on the evening of the second travel day, with Athens to Izmir being the first day, leaving Izmir for Bandirma around 6AM on the... more »

Need Help for Ideal Itinerary for 2 weeks

My husband and I are planning our honeymoon in Turkey, and although we have some ideas on where and what we'd like to see, we need some recommendations on our itinerary (emphasis on good food, adventure, sites, culture, beaches, unique places). We will have approximately 14 days and are looking to travel late September (arrive 27th or 28th) into October, leaving before Kurban Bayramı on/around October 12 or 13. Our dates are pretty flexible, but we would like to buy plane tickets soon and start booking hotels. Please provide affordable hotel and restaurant recs if you have them and also specific travel details on how to get around- options of plane, train and bus, no rental cars, but maybe a scooter rental in certain areas. Thanks in advance for all of your feedback! :)

After having done some research, I think we have decided to arrive in either Izmir (to stay in Selcuk) or Nevsehi... more »

Moldova, Tranzdniestr and Gagauzia

Hi.

Me and some friend are doing a 16 day tour of Belarus, Ukraine and Moldova, starting in Minsk, Belarus and then travelling thru most of Ukraine. We are visiting Kiev, Kharkov, Donetsk, Yalta (krim) and Odessa.
We tought about ending the trip in Chisinau in Moldova.

How is travelling between Ukraine and Moldova? Any problems? crossing the transdniestr republic?
Do we need visas?
Ive heard its easy to travel from Ukraine to Moldova both not so easy getting back, anyone?

I want to visit both the republic of Transdniestr and the autonomus region of Gagauzia.
Any spesific rules, visa regulations, things to apply for in advance here?

Secondly ive seen the flight prices out of Chisinau, quit steep.
Any idea where its best to fly too to get cheap flights, we are heading back to Norway.

Thanks for all the replyes.

Hvar...Trying to find accommodation in quiet area...

and wondering if anyone has experience with Podstine area. Some say that it is too far to really walk everyday and some say its a nice "stroll". Really some mixed views. Any comments or other suggestions for a quiet stay in Hvar which I know is a party place. Thanks.

Brasov to Belgrade?

Hi,
I tried searching for this as I'm sure it has been asked many times, but to no avail.
Now that the Bucharest - Belgrade night train has been suspended, what are the options for getting from Brasov to Belgrade? Would prefer to avoid Bucharest, if possible. We'll be travelling with a toddler, so don't mind a few changes as it breaks up the journey for him.
Thanks in advance.

Taxi hire Izmir air port to ephesus

About 10 years ago 2 of us flew IST TO IZMIR and walked out of the terminal and hired a taxi for the day to take us around. Has anyone done this lately and if so what is the going rate for this. We will be three persons and do not want a guide, just a driver who speaks us a little english. We would be returning to the airport to catch an evening flight.
Thanks, Robert

road trippin' advice

hi there,

i am going on a two month trip around Central / Eastern Europe in June and July and would like a bit of advice. There will be three of us travelling so we were thinking of buying a car or van as it will probably work out cheaper than three sets of train tickets.

We're starting in Italy for a wedding and then heading around and down the coast to Greece, then up up hopefully as high as Poland.

My questions are: is buying a car or van reasonably easy to do on such a short trip? I live in the UK so could potentially buy one here and drive it down to Italy. We won't be looking at spending much and would like to sell it at the end.

We would like to do this trip as cheaply as possible, so won't be eating out much or staying in many hotels etc. Does anyone have a rough idea of how much money we might need for this duration of time? I have a couple of tents if that helps... more »

Plitvice to the northern coast by bus

Hi,

My boyfriend and I are going to Croatia in July/August of 2013. I have no problem finding connections in the southern part of Croatia but once I get to Plitvice I can't find any onward connections that will take us back to the coast and north. I can't even find buses that are travelling directly up the coast past Zadar, since I thought we might have to backtrack then go a direct route.

I had really hoped to go to Krk or Rab, then up to Ravinj then to Trieste. Is this possible by bus?

Also, there are soooo many places we want to go right now we're planning on staying only 1 to 3 nights in each place.

Here is the tentative plan for 2 to 2 1/2 weeks in Croatia - Split (we fly into Split from Venice) – Korcula – Dubrovnik – Makarska – Trogir -Sibenik – Krka park – Zadar - Plitvice – Krk? – Rovinj – Triest

Is this feasible or are we insane? And if it's too muc... more »

5 days trip to Moldova?

Hi!

I have a 5 days vacation in May and was considering spending it in Moldova. I have trouble finding information about this country, everything I read seems either to concern Chisinau or Transdniestr (to which I definitely won't be going). This is what I have come up with so far.

1) Sights:
- Churches and monastries mostly
- Museums (in Chisinau), anywhere else?
- Medieval castles? I think I read something about this but can't find it again...

2) Activities:
- Wine tasting (not for me though, I don't drink)
- Concerts (in Chisinau)
- Walk around (countryside, parks...)

Anything I missed?

If I decide to go, I'll have the following things to consider:

  • Are there convenient overland connexions to/from Romania (Bucharest)? Flying directly to Chisinau from Paris is either very expensive or extremely inconvenient (there could be a possibility with Tarom, but t...

Durmitor in April by motorcycle

Hi,

I'm planning a trip by motobike to Durmitor in mid April. What are the expected road conditions (tarmac roads) in that period? They are free of snow already? Thanks for any info or feedback.

8 hours in St Petersburg. What would you do?

Hi

My girlfriend and I will be traveling to St Petersburg from Helsinki in a few weeks for a short amount of time, 8 hours!

If anyone has knowledge of the city we'd really appreciate advice for such a short trip. e.g. What must we see, good place to eat traditional Russian food, how to get about, what areas to visit etc.

Thanks in advance.

Airzena

I've become something of a nervous flyer in my old age. Does anyone know what Air Company Airzena is like? It will be a three-hour flight from Kharkiv to Tbilisi. Unimpressive food, small seats and in-flight magazines only in Georgian aren't a problem. It's the pilot's skill, the aircraft maintenance and the bumpiness of the ride on a Canadair Regional (Bombadier) plane that interest me.

Any experiences?
