Planning to land in Vilnuis at the end of August. Are the hostels near the train station reasonably safe for a single, female traveler?
Do I need an advance reservation?

Witch is the better rout?
Riga -Vilnius - Kaunas - - Warsaw
Travel by BUS.
I will travel on my motorbike from Helsinki south through the Baltic countries, for about two weeks, starting mid-June. I would appreciate to hear some advice from mc-people who have been in the region, like how to find safe places to park the bike. How is traffic on the main roads and cities for mc-drivers? Small and bumpy roads I do not fear, my mc manages rough surface and dirt roads.
Gonna do a 2 weeks round trip in Eastern europe and I'd like to travel from Vilnius to Kaliningrad by train. Visa is not a prob but I really like to book the ticket to Kaliningrad somehow in advance coz I'm not sure if there are free seats coz the train is coming straight from Moscow. Seems like I can't book tickets online on the Lithuanian railway website... Has anybody ever taken that train and can give me some advice?
Me and a friend are flying to Vilnius on May 15th where we will then travel through Europe for 35 days and finish in Barcelona.
My questions are:
1. Should we travel to Riga and Tallinn from Vilnius for few days then back down to Poland where we want to go to Auschwitz
Travel straight to Warsaw and on to Auschwitz and skip Latvia and Estonia out?
2. Has anyone travelled on train from Vilnius to any of the above and if so how long was the train journey?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Could you please tell about buses and cabs to the airport. I have heard about tourist being ripped off by cabs in Vinius and was wondering if any one had any good/bad experience getting to the airport? Thanks.
Is there any way to book a train ticket from Vilnius to Minsk online? I need a return ticket on the express train.
My boyfriend and myself will be flying into Vilinus after a month in Russia. We want to stop over a few days in Vilinus and then get going to the Curonian Spit. We are on holidays for about 2 months after leaving Russia and intend to head south through Eastern Europe over this time.
My questions are:
1) How long should we give ourselves in Vilinus, Lithuania?
2) What is the best way to transport ourselves from Vilinus to the Curonian Spit area and should we be booking ahead of time to avoid dissapointment in ensuring tickets?
3) When we get to the coast, which town should we stay in which is the most servicable and provides good access both the the Curonian Spit as well as to Vilinus?
4)And then, where should we stay at the reccommended town?
We are travelling from Australia and all information will be greately appreciated.
Thanks in advance more »
I've been trying to find some bus schedule online, but I've had no luck so far. I'd like to go from Vilnius to Zalavas and return on the same day. Car rental for a day is around £50 (only checked Avis) and it's way too much. Is there any way to check the timetable online?
Many thanks in advance

I'll be flying to Vilnius on Friday 29th and be leaving on April 2nd. I'll be staying at a friends who's doing an internship in Vilnius,
so everything has do be done has day-trips..
What do you think of this itinerary?
Saturday 30th Trakai
Sunday 31st spa at Druskininkai
Monday 1st either Kaunas
Tuesday 2nd fligh back home in the afternoon
I'd like to change Kaunas for Siauliai, but maybe it's too far.
As an alternative do you think it's worth to spend one night in Druskininkai?
We'd like to use public transportation
Is anyone able to give us recomendations for accommodation in this area. We would like a hotel with eastern european hostel prices, but if you have another recommendation we would love it
Does anyone know where we can catch an ice hockey game in Vilnius. we will be there from 3 - 6 th March. Are there any games at this time? Is there a website we can go to?
