Could someone please tell me if there is another way from Budapest to Ljubljana (Slovenia) apart from an 8.5hr train ride, or ~93,000HUF (~A$625) plane ticket?
Is it possible to go from either Keszthely or Pecs in Hungary to Ljubljana? or Keszthely/Pecs to Zagreb (Croatia)?
We are currently in budapest and my boyfriend is very excited about an upcoming boxing match that is on in Las Vegas on Sat 5 May.
Apparently the timing of these things is quite difficult to pick but the main event could be around 4am on sunday morning (6 June) here in Budapest.
Does anyone know of a bar that might be open at this time and be showing sports (i think sky sports is the channel we need).
We have foudn a few sports bars but they all seem to close around 2am.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
I would appreciate any suggestions for a good rental agency in Budapest to help find an apartment (ideally in the V, VI or VII districts) for a year.
Also, by chance, does anyone know if the "certificate of ownership" document and registration of my address with the government is required if I am living in Hungary only for one year (on a student visa)? Thanks!
Can anyone tell me how much a ticket on the EN371 night train costs including reservation? full fare..
I would like to know what's the most logic route to fallow to go from Vienna to Budapest. Is there a specific train that goes from one to the other? Or bus?
Thanks a lot. :)
I would like to know what's the most logic route to fallow to go from Budapest to Croatia. Is there a specific train that goes from one to the other?

i'm trying to find the cheapest way to get from holland to budapest. after searching the internet i found from eindhoven there were flights for budapest listed under destinations that the airport reaches but each time i tried to put in dates it said they weren't avaliable. i'm living in between eindhoven and rotterdam but can't find any flights from rotterdam to budapest. it seems i'll have to go from amsterdam but as this is out of my way and i have to make the trip a few times is this the only option.how much money does it tend to be?
I will be spending four days in Budapest. Anybody know of any good places to visit in and outside the city. Also good bars to drink local beers and hopefully anything else anyone can recommend.
I'm heading up to budapest in a few weeks and I was wondering if theres a direct overnight train from Florence to Budapest. All i can find on the net is an overnight to Vienna and then another train from there to BP. Or if theres other italian destinations for budapest overnights? thanks for the help
I was thinking of going to Budapest for Eye Laser Surgery .. Has anyone got this procedure done?
Any Nice Places to stay and visit as I will aslo be taking advantage of the visist.
Except the big well known sites - what is your fav thing in Budapest to do?
What's your fav museum that is in your opinion "unmissable" & why?
What is the "must try" of food & drink in your opinion?
What "quirky" unusual things would you recommend?
What's the best view point (from building/hill etc) of the city?
Any tip you care to share?
Hey everyone. I just read (on LP website) that Australians no longer require a visa to enter Hungary. Is this true? Can anyone verify that? It certainly would be welcome news if so, as most sites I go to about it indicate that we still need one. If it's not so, then I might have some trouble trying to go there next week! Cheers.
Has anyone Canoed down the Danube from Budapest south eastward? If so could you comment on scenery, (areas of heavy industry - if there are any - to avoid), campsites/hostels on route, other traffic, any problems of note?
I have a notion that it might be a bit too much of a large grassy plain without much striking scenery?
I would be glad of any further information.
I tried posting this question in the "Europe on a Shoestring" thread but no one responded. Since I will be in Budapest first, I figured I would give it a shot here:
What are the availability of gyms/health clubs in Eastern Europe? Are they as prevelant as they are in the US? Only in major cities? What are the quality of these places and is it possible to buy a one day or one week pass? I assume the nicer hotels would have a fitness room like the ones in the US but Ive found that they consist mostly of treadmills and all purpose machines like a Bow Flex. I will be in Europe for 5 months and I would like to lift weights at least once a week if possible. Thanks to anyone who can offer any kind of advice.
I just read in the Denver Post that it is possible to "drive an old Soviet tank around an obstacle course." No other information was given..........can anyone help me track this down, it sounds like fun and I will be in Budapest in about three weeks.
