I have two more questions about Georgia, if I may :
1) Overnight train travel Tbilisi - Batumi : Is is safe ? Or comfortable ? Or should I opt for daytime travel if at all possible ?
2) Side-trip to Abkhazia : Apparently trips of south Ossetia are not possible at the moment. How about Abkhazia ? Has the situation on the border gotten back to normal ? Or is the border at the Inguri bridge still closed ?
Thank you for any help !
Can anyone recommend where to go in Georgia next summer please. I will be coming in from Turkey and will only have about a week. I also want to continue on to Armenia so if you can recommend great places there too it'd be appreciated.
I am tentatively considering a trip to Georgie & Armenia in early march, 2009. I was wondering : how is the weather at that time ? Is it still too cold to visit Svanetia or will spring have sent in by that time ?

I just want to warn you against using flyLAL – LithuanianAirlines (www.flylal.com). We had tickets from Vilinus to Tbilisi but when the war started we wanted to find a acceptable solutions for both sides in this situation.
But FlyLAL really do not take care of their customer satisfaction and safety. Every ideas (refund money, change date for next year etc) we sent have been refused by FlyLAL.
War, martial law - for FlyLAL these are not a sufficient reasons to proposal their customers any acceptable solution. Contact with high level managers who may make decision is impossible - they do not response mails.
If you want to buy the tickets to Georgia choose another airlines for which reputation is a crucial value (e.g. Lufthansa proposed their customers several solution in war situation)
I think FlyLAL has three main values: money, money and money. Cust... more »

I got recommendations on thorn tree for both Dodo's and Irine guesthouses.
Looking on the map i found Dodo's more centrally located.
In your opinion, what is the better option of the two? Rooms, atmosphere, location, owners, etc?
How many people in each room?
Is tap water good quality in Georgia or should I drink bottled all the time?
