GBAO permit in dushanbe
Hello, is it possible to make our GBAO permit in dushanbe? how much time it takes, and where we have to go?
Otherwise we can do it in Brussel with visas, but it seems much more expensive.

Pamir highway, to travel East or West?
I'm planning on traveling along the Pamir highway and have the choice of heading East from Dushanbe to Osh, or doing the reverse. In terms of finding others to share cars with, or maybe hitchhiking (worst case scenario) which direction is more convenient? I assume it would be easier to meet travelers in Dushanbe and Khorog, rather than in Osh.
I am doing this as part of a loop of Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan, (returning to Kyrgyzstan at the end) so it's basically a question of counter-clockwise, or clockwise. I have been assuming counter-clockwise is better, but am open to thoughts on how to make this as smooth as possible.

Pamir Highway in late June/early July
Hello,
I am traveling solo and looking to go from Osh in Kyrgyzstan to Dushanbe via the Pamir Highway. I'm not into hitching so I've been looking at organized tours and there are several categories of expenses. I'm really keen to do this from Osh to Dushanbe and not in reverse. I am wondering if someone else here is organizing a similar trip? I'd like to leave in late June. June 20 is the earliest that I can enter Tajikistan per my visa which is 30 days. Any suggestions? Anyone want to join in? if so contact me at sjk373 at gmail. Happy travels!

OVIR Registration in Khorog?
The LP suggests that registering in Khorog is easy compared to Dushanbe - is this still true? Anybody with recent experience? I plan to stay 45 days in Tajikistan and will be in Khorog within the first 2 weeks... I have to do this somewhere - so where's the easiest place?

Partners for trek in pamir
Hi
I'm looking for partners (especially Russian speakers) for a trek of about one week the Pamir (Fann Mountains). And another week in eastern Tajikistan. The idea is to go fully equipped for a few days in nature (tents, food etc) and hire a local guide and porters or take organized tour from Dushanbe.
Starting in the beginning of September (septermber 2-4).
Anyone wants to join?

Share Pamir Highway from Osh to Dushambe with us
Dear travellers
We, a couple of Switzerland (27 and 30 years old), plan to travel the Pamir Highway from Osh to Dushambe. Our start will be on 10th of June 2013. The whole trip will last for 12-13 days.
Over a travel agency we've already booked a 4x4 car with driver. He speaks English and knows the region very well. We would like to see a lot along the way, he will show us also trekking/hiking spots. Overnight we will spend in homestays or cheap hostels, but we can discuss it with the driver. He knows a lot of local homestays.
For us this is the unique chance to experience the Pamir on our speed and with a lot of flexibility.
Of course on our own its an expensive way, but to share our car with 1-2 more travellers would be perfect. If you would like to join us only a part of our way - you are very welcom, too!
Our trip will go in 12-13days:
Start in Osh 10.6.2013
Sari Tas...

Down and out in Tajikistan
After spending approx 1.5 months on the roads, trails and jailoos of Kyrgyzstan - I came to Tajikistan a little bit tired, exhausted and with somewhat 'lighter pockets'. By then, I have already experienced some episodes of traveler's diarrhea, getting ridiculously sick while trekking around Kyrgyzstan's Arslanbob and worst of all - my 'trusty' backpack's suspension system completely fell apart while I was literally out on a limb in southern Kyrgyzstan mountains. Despite this grim introduction - the moment I stood against this massive wall of mountains that separates Kyrgyzstan from Tajikistan, known as the Alay Pamir range - I knew I was heading for the right place. Tajikistan - which has been a dream of mine ever since I pitched my tent on the footsteps of Muztagh Ata, a mountain located about 100 miles to the east in neighboring Xinjiang - was becoming a reality. The sight of 6-7 th... more »

Somon Air / Bicycle costs
Hi, I'm going to cycle the Pamir Highway in July.
I found a flight with Somon Air from Frankfurt to Dunshabe.
But it's impossible to find any information about taking a bicycle.
They don't respond to mails or telephone and their booking website also looks a bit fuzzy.
Has anyone experience with Somon Air and information if it's possible to take a bicycle and what they charge for this?
Thanks!
