I'm looking for more options for vegetarian meals here in Nicaragua, so far, apart from the many vegi options available in regular Nicaraguan places, I've been the following vegetarian restaurants:
Ananda in Managua
Cocinarte in Leon
Natural at Playa Santo Domingo, Ometepe
All quite tasty, but what others have travelers come across?
I am going to Little Corn Island for 3 days, where is a fair priced place to stay and what kind of activities are reccomended, Any referals? Thank you
I am heading to Nicaragua for a week (7 days) in March and I'm working on a pack list and backpack option. I can only bring a "personal item" because the flight we are going on requires fees for all other packs. This means a small backpack no larger than these dimensions: 16 x 14 x 12in.
Just wanted to see if anyone had any pack recommendations and any "must haves" to bring along for the ride.
My girlfriend and I are off to Managua later this month. We will be arriving late on Monday, and will spend six nights (and five full days in Nicaragua.
We want to see all of the major Managua sights first, before venturing to some of the surrounding cities and towns.
We will be hiring a car with a driver for the first day, and were wondering about how long we should expect to spend touring the city.
We will be going to:
1) Loma de Tiscapa
2) Huellas de Acahualinca
3) Museo Nacional
4) The monuments of the Area Monumental
5) Nuevo Catedral
We will probably get started after breakfast (around 9:30) and would also like to stop somewhere along the way for lunch.
We don't want to rush around, and would like to spend the time that is needed at each site.
My questions are:
1) How long should we expect all of this to take?
2) How available is street food/restaur... more »
We are a family of 4 traveling to San Juan Del Sur in May 2012 for three months. Does anyone have any suggestions for good, reasonably prices accommodations.
I have the lonely planet nicaragua from the library, but I was considering buying the Moon Handbook to take with me on my trip.
The old edition is quite cheap online (around $4.50) and was published in 2008. The new edition is more expensive around $15. Has anyone seen both editions? I know prices, times, etc. will be different, but I find that stuff out on the internet anyways.
Thanks for your tips!
I´m trying to get from Leon, Nicaragua to San Jose, Costa Rica (actually trying to reach Chauita, CR) as soon as possible. I only have a 6 days left on my trip and really want to visit Chauita to see the Caribbean coast and see the sloths :)
Does anyone have suggestions? I am currently in Leon, Nicaragua.
Thank you for your help!
I'm without a charger for my Itouch and will visit Granada tomorrow.
Any ideas about where I can find a charger for my device?
Keeping in touch back home is so so important this week... family issues - please help?
Any and all advice is much appreciated ~~~
We are traveling to Nicaragua in mid-late March and I can find last year's temperature but can't seem to find the humidity. How humid is it in Nicaragua? We are coming from Houston (super humid) and don't know if we will likely need to pay extra for A/C.....anyone have experience with Nicaragua in March?
How hot/humid was it, how did you do?
I am arriving in Managua around 2 in the morning. I am than driving down towards Tola. Can anyone tell me if there is a late night food market in Managua, near the airport, or along the NIC 1, to grab supplies so I don't have to double back in the morning?
My girlfriend and I are both in our twenties and are going to be in Nica next month.
We are arriving in Managua from the Corn Islands on the afternoon flight and then have 3 nights "spare" before we go to spend 6 nights near Playa Majagual where we are renting a house. Although I was a bit nervous of the prospect of hiring a car, it's been recomended to us by previous guests that we hire a 4X4 to check out some of the nearby beaches to really make the most of the stay so we are going to go for it for those 6 nights.
Initially for the 3 nights inbetween, we were just going to get a bus to Leon and spend the 3 nights there before going back to Managua to pick up our car rental.
However as the other parts of our trip are for relaxing on the beach we are keen to see as much as we can in the few nights we have and are both keen on visiting Somoto Canyon. So, my questio... more »
Just read something online that a Chinese Passport holder with a valid Nicaragua tourist visa, was refused to enter Nicaragua from Los Chiles, Costa Rica. He ended up taking a plane there and got there without problem.
I am wondering if any body here required a tourist visa, has experience crossing from Los Chiles?!?!
I am planning a trip to San Carlos for a couple days, but am really concern about the immigration issue.
I will be traveling to managua late this month, and it turns out I will be there for the last 4 days of this festival.
Was just wondering if anyone had ever been to this event before.
I was planning on taking a day trip from Managua, but I can't seem to determine if the main festival activities were during the day.
Would it be worth staying the night in Diriamba (if this is even possible)?
I´m travelling to the Corn Islands in about a week but i´m struggling to find any good, cheap backpacker accommodation. However I realise everything is going to be a bit more expensive than the mainland.
Can anyone recommend a resonably priced place to stay on both the islands and a way to book. hostel world/ hostel bookers have nothing listed.
thank you in advance!
Hi, I'm heading to Nicaragua Saturday and am looking for a decent book by a Nicaraguan author that I can pick up in english. Any suggestions?
