Hi, I will be traveling to Nicarauga and then head to Costa Rica to Jaco and Limon. I will be in San Jose by myself for about four days between my stays in Jaco and Limon..any suggestions of what i can do and where a good, safe and friendly hotel is with a good price?! Thanks!
Hey guys, I'm relatively new here, but I've read most threads regarding the cuban visiting issues. I understand that won't be a big issue now for visiting Cuba as a US citizen. However, I'm a F-1 student visa holder here in the states, and really want to travel to Cuba this spring break.... But I read some threads regarding alien residents coming back from CUBA, and some raised the issue that it may affect negatively to my student visa.... Cuz I know, although Cuba doesn't stamp on my passport, I'll still have two entries for Mexico re-entry.
So I'm wondering that, since mexico custom doesn't stamp for exit, Can I do this route: from US to Cancun, then to Havana, then to Jamaica, and then coming back to the states. Thus, i would ONLY have one stamp for Mexico.... So I can say that I have only been to Mexico and Jamaica, since they wouldn't know when I leave Mexico. What do you guys... more »
So I think I have a pretty good packing list but wanted some advice. I have only traveled in the United States so far really so your advice from international travel would be appreciated.
What items should we just buy when we get there instead of bringing?
What items do you always bring but never use?
What stuff do you pack too much of and could have brought half as much?
Here is our REVISED packing list:

I'm heading to Panama in a few weeks and am looking for some good surf spots close to Panama City (within 3-5 hours max). I'd like to go to some towns that have fun waves, but also have some nice restaurants and bars to go to since I will be with my girlfriend. Nothing too fancy, but just some things for her to do as well. I've been to bocas before but never to southern panama..Does anyone have any suggestions???
We have just been to the immigracion office here in San Salvador and to extend our CA4 tourist visas past the 90 day stay we have to provide photocopies of every stamped page in our passports, find a sponsor who is willing to come to San Salvador, back us, provide ID, we have to provide proof of funds.
So that's a bit of a pain.
What's the deal doing the same thing in Managua?
We have NZ passports.
As some of you may recall, a couple of weeks ago on a thread about Sansa vs NatureAir on here I asked if anyone else had heard that NatureAir is supposedly going to have a flight this summer from SJO to Puerto Jimenez. I heard this from the lodge I'm going to be staying at in the Osa in June.
Anyway, I just called NatureAir, and they said that yes, they are going to start flying there, but they're not sure when. It might be this summer - it might be later. Amusing since I theoretically have a ticket for this as-yet nonexistent flight. I'll check with them again in a month or so to see if they've heard anything else, but I thought I'd note this for now in case anyone was curious.
So my friends and I plan on staying in Panama for 11 days at the end of March. We are flying into Panama City. Any suggestions on the not to miss spots? Also, there will be five of us and we were contemplating the idea of a rental car; are buses the way to go or a rental car?
We were wondering if anyone had some good recommendations for a place to stay near the SJO airport. We leave early in the morning. We have reserved a place at Barrio Dent, de la Libreria Internacional 50 metro norte,. I think this must be quite a distance from the airport. We will be renting a car and returning it to the airport the day before we depart since it is such an early flight. We are looking for a place in the price range of $50 - $100/night. Thank you for any suggestions.
I understand there is a place called perhaps & Cafe somewhere near the park that has good coffee.
Does anyone know where precisely it is & if it is still there?
What other places are there for the picky coffee drinker?
Also: It used to be one could pay to use the pool at the Porta Hotel, but then I heard one could no longer do so? Anyone know about this? I am traveling with children, I know there's a nice playground there too.
It looks like we may be in Panama City from Good Friday to Easter Sunday. Are there any interesting festivities taking place that weekend, or are we better off staying longer in the highlands?
First time visiting costa rica..I am flying in to SJO Feb 19th 9:45am and leaving SJO Feb 25th 10:32am.
Places to visit:
I would also like to visit a beach just to relax and unwind, any recommendations? As well, is there a bus leaving straight from SJO airport to La Fortuna? I have not made any reservations at hostels, hotels etc, I was wondering if I can just get to the place and book it right there and then?
Is anyone familiar with this area of Mixco? Is it safe? Ghetto?
I was wondering if I could get my feedback on my trip. I've listed my itinerary below and I have the following questions:
1. Will I be moving around too much, wasting too much time on the road? If so, what parts would be good to cut out?
2. I arrive in Belize City at 3:45pm on Thursday. Will I have enough time to get through immigration and get to Caye Caulker before dark?
3. How easy is it to hop between the cayes? Does it take a while to travel? Is it expensive to arrange boat transportation?
4. How long would it take to get to San Ignacio from Belize City? Is it easy to stop by Lamanai on the way?
5. What is the easiest way to get from the Belize eastern coast to Honduras? I'm trying to get to Roatan
2/16: fly into belize city, get in at 345, take water taxi to caye caulker
2/17: caye caulker - padi ceritification
2/19: caye ambergris (hol chan marine reserve... more »
I'm planning to stay at the Junguar Inn, spend the day in the park, then head to Flores. I'm wondering how easy it is to catch a bus, or what other options there are, to get from Tikal to Flores after 5 p.m.
