Costa Rica in september 2-3 weeks.
Hello my friend and I are planning a trip in september, possible to CR, we are both 25 years old, into nature, hiking, swimming, would love to learn to surf.. so my question is, is september a good time to travel costa rica?
I've been reading online that the weather is CR varies depending on the region and that the caribbean side is rather dry and a good area to check out? Although it would be rainy, I would still like to check out tamarindo and that region.
Flights that I have looked up indicate that it's more affordable to fly into san jose than liberia
Please let me know what you think?
Any seasoned costa rican travelers out there that could give me the 411 on CR in september would be extremely helpful!
Thank you!

Late night taxi from airport
Hello!
I am arriving into Comalapa late Wed night (yeah, the Spirit flight). As a woman traveling alone, is it generally considered safe to travel by taxi late at night in San Salvador?
If not, can anyone recommend inexpensive accommodations that will provide a shuttle for a reasonable price?
Thanks for the help!

Electricity in Nicaragua
I wonder can somebody let me know the situation with electrical stuff in Nicaragua? I've googled it and I see they use the same two pronged plugs as in the US. However, I've also seen some references to bringing a surge protector- is this necessary? I will only want to charge an iPhone and digital camera. I don't especially want to have to hunt down a surge protector (never used one before), but i would hate to damage my phone in particular. Any advice appreciated!
Many thanks in advance.

Onward travel - Panama & Costa Rica
Hello,
As part of a round the world trip I am due to fly into Panama city from the US and after 3 months of Northward travel I plan to fly out of either Mexico/Belize home via the US. We plan to do this all overland but have heard of potential onward travel ticket issues. I have researched quite a lot online and get plenty of mixed messages. Any help anyone could provide would be massively appreciated. Do people think getting a bus ticket from Panama into Costa rica before flying would be a solution? And same for bus ticket out of Costa rica into Nicaragua before we enter Costa Rica?
Thanks in advance
Paul

Choosing honeymoon destination
Hello fellow travellers,
I'm trying to figure out the best destination for our honeymoon next year in February. I get to choose where we go and prepare the whole shabang, but she imposed the conditions ( to which I agreed). The criteria are few but very precise.:
- see vulcanoes and heavy vulcanic activity (lots of fumaroles, mud pots, volcanoes etc);
- clear skies and good temperatures to have beach time;
- no need to take malaria pills;
- good diving spots
- if possible: see whales (but this is the least important one)
Thank you very much!!!

Windsurfing in Nicaragua
Just wondering if anyone has gone windsurfing in Nicaragua, and if so where and were they able to rent the equipment etc. I tried searching online but wasn't able to come up with anything useful.
Cheers

Central America Budget
I've had a look round through the search and i cant find exact answers for what i'm after.
So, Central American travel gurus - my girlfriend and I are planning to go to central america in january as part of a self run RTW trip. We plan on starting in Cancun (cheapest place to fly to from the UK), and working our way down to either Costa Rica or Panama, and then flying back to Cancun and back out.
So, here's the questions.
1. For two people (sharing obviously) how much money would we need for 3 months. We both dive and will spend quite a lot of time at Utilia, and we plan to spend more time chilling in places than travelling (we experienced the fact that the bus journeys take up a lot of time and money in S-E-A)
2. Will 3 months be long enough? Or too long?
3. Besides Utilia and Blue hole, can anyone recommend any awesome dive spots along the way?
4. This one is a tough quest...

san pedro sula to punta gorda, belize
I fly into San Pedro Sula around 11 on a Saturday -- and I'm looking to bus/boat (via Guatemala is okay) to Punta Gorda. I'm assuming that I'd bus to Puerto Cortes and take a boat from there -- any insights into times, lines, etc would be appreciated!
Thanks

honeymoon all inclusive affordable remote
hello,
my partner and I are looking for a honeymoon destination. we are really flexible as to where to go: costa rica, mexico, dominican republic etc etc etc....
we are tempted by the idea of having all meals provided, or an affordable restaurant really close (given breakfast is provided) and therefore all-inclusive fits the purpose of this trip (we really only want to be together, not worry about food etc).
We do not like really touristy places and big resorts.
We are rather in nature in a remote place (at least not crowded).
and yes...we are on a budget....meaning those really fancy resorts that are completely in nature but where you pay hundreds of $ a night are out of our league.
basic-nice-nature-all meals provided- affordable. any hints????
thank you soo much
tina

Changing Quetzales in Australia
Hey
I arrived back in Australia from Guatemala and have a stack of Quetzales...problem is the banks and foreign exchange places don't want to know me! Any ideas how to get this changed? Might have to donate them to charity...

Belize dollars currency exchange antigua
I have recently arrived in antigua, Guatemala and currently have an excess amount of Belize dollars I am looking to exchange. I have been told the only places to exchange are at the Belize / Guatemala border or at the airport. We have tried in the banks near Central Park but it wasn't accepted. Does anyone know where we could exchange in antigua or else where would be the best place I am heading to all the other southern countries from here.
Central America for young fun!
Hi Guys,
Planning on heading to Central America in September for 1 month with my girlfriend. We starting in Guatemala and working our way down to Panama hitting each country along the south coast. We are in our early 20's and hoping to get out and about including surfing, biking, trekking, night life and general popular sight seeing and sticking to hostels/locations with similar minded/aged people. If anyone has any advice, tips or recommendations on anything/where it would be great to get some words of wisdom from a fellow backpacker.
Thanks so much for you attention and any help you may provide :)
Pat
Seeking information on traveling within Central America
Hello everyone! I am going to be doing a trip to Central America (Mexico, Belize, Guatemala) and am in the midst of researching travel/transportation in between the cities I'll be visiting. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations/advice based on the places that I'm going to. Here is what my itinerary is looking like:
1) Playa del Carmen to Tulum
2) Tulum to Caye Caulker (not sure if I should go through Belize City, San Pedro, etc)
3) Caye Caulker to Ambergris Caye
4) Ambergris Caye to Flores
5) Flores to Guatemala City/Antigua
Any advice would be appreciated!
