Anybody noticed how crap the new London LP is!! All the maps have been moved from being all together in a nice neat section in the back (printed in multicolour on high grade gloss paper), to being lost amongst all the chapters and printed in a duo-tone colour format on proper thin paper (a blatant cost saving exercise). I’ve been using LP London for many years now and found the new one totally unusable. The maps were un-readable and really hard to find and the I found that the new layout was totally illogical. LP – If you reading this – Why change the formats of your books when they’ve been working fine for decades??!! Don’t fix something that aint broke, as the old saying goes. It’s not a surprise though, as soon as the BBC get there mitts on the company then the usual messing happens. Change for change sake I think. I’m sure Tony Wheeler spent many years tweaking the layout to make ... more »

How do we know we've been either accepted or rejected to the blogsherpa program?
Under my travel blog, I used to see "your application is pending" and today I didn't see the message anymore.
No email or information whatsoever though.
Does anyone know what that mean?
Thanks

I highly appreciate the grace with which the reverent lonely planet management is providing information to tourist worldwide. But individually I have some humble suggestions so far as the policy and guidelines of lonely planet for the registered online is concerned.
1. That organizations and associations, particularly the not-profit-making with a staff working voluntarily without salary in the remote and less developed region of the world should be preferable over individual registered guides working for personal gains and earning. The associations and tourism organizations like the one discussed above are the national or local NGOs working for the promotion of ecotourism and are equipped to even-handedly distribute the income accrued from tourism. The also play leading role in the protection of natural environment and traditional culture.
2. This is really difficult as to differ...

I have just come accross this article from 13 October 2009, where the LP's CEO is being paraphrased:
'Goldberg says he expects digital to continue growing its share of total revenues, particularly on the U.S. side, through a mixture of iPhone apps and other initiatives. It now has 600 guides now on the Amazon Kindle store and *plans to monetise its 700,000 members of the Thorn Tree travel forum*' (http://paidcontent.org/article/419-lonely-planet-picks-u.s.-chief-as-digital-sales-reach-20-million/)
I was curious to hear what do the old-time posters at TT think about 'being monetized'?

I have notice the last few days that the TT have been working slower everywhere to me,
I connect on different PC's with different types of connections at different times of the day,
maybe this have something to do with the tweak to facebook?

I recently purchased an entire guide in the Pick & Mix PDF format. Unfortunately the PDF has become corrupted - and for the life of me I can't find any email with a link to the download page - all I can find is the PDF of my receipt. I remember that the guides can be downloaded up to 5 times -- but I first have to get to the download page.
What should I do to get access to my download page again?

Is there a way to type in an address and add it to the trip planner to show up on the map?

Hello,
I've received a copy of the new lonelyplanet mail in my inbox. It looks nice. Thumbs up. Thumbs down however for sending it in triplicate (I used to get comet in duplicate but this is one step further).
Is there any chance someone could remove my multiple entries in your mailing list please?
Ta.

Hi All,
I am desperately looking for the first issue of Lonely Planet Magazine. Unfortunately this issue is out of stock, but maybe someone can help me to get it anyway. I have collected all issues until now for a local charity sale. Is there someone who does not need the first issue anymore? Please let me know... Thanks a million!

Just curious if you were planning to cover a few more regions besides the first six titles. I would love to see a book for the Midwest and Florida, and somehow the Rockies must be covered as well.
I think the series is fantastic, BTW.
Thanks!

Hi
I am purchasing paper versions of the latest guides however i would like to know if i can get the PDF versions without further charge? it seems strange to have to pay twice for the same content. i would like to have the books for research before my trip whilst using the pdf's on an iphone for reference whilst on my trip.
any way of achieving this?
