what is the easiest and best option to get from Niagara Falls to Toronto without a car?
I don't drive and was wondering if it makes senso to go and visit Eastern Canada only by public transport, something like Toronto -Niagara Falls -Thousand Island - Algonquin N.P. - Ottawa - Montreal - Laurentides - Quebec City - Tadoussac
Or shall I wait till I find someone who drives that can come along with me :P
Thanks a lot
My friend bought an annual pass to canada national parks (discovery pass).
He told me i can take his pass and save lots of money.
Is it right? in Canada-national-parks website its written that the annual pass isn't transferable and would be void if found that was transffered.
How can they detect it? there is no photo/name on it. the only thing is the - signature of the owner (in some of the cases at least).
Please tell me if it's safe to use someone's else annual-pass for group (max 7 persons in one vehicle).
A few years ago, I took my GF to Grouse Mountain. The wildlife refuge area of the mountain was very small at that time and we were able to see grizzly bears at close range. She loved it. The staff mentioned that a major expansion was planned.
I realize the bears are probably still in hibernation at this time, but we are going late next month.
My question is have they expanded the refuge area significantly and how likely are we to be able to see the bears at a relatively close range?
Thanks in advance.
So my boyfriend of two years lives in Canada and for a while now we have discussed me doing the year long work and travel visa through BUNAC. The only problem with it is that I got arrested last year for a misdemeanor and I know that Canada is very strict on this especially when it is a crime of moral turpitude. My case however, was dismissed. I called the lady at BUNAC and spoke with her about this and she seemed confused about the dismal but said that if it said it was dismissed and I could send the court paperwork that it should be okay.
Now I want to know if anyone else has the issue or knows exactly how strict BUNAC is with this or the immigration people who they send it off to or whatever. My papers say dismissed and I have scoured the internet for the answer, but it varies so much. I need to know if the lady from BUNAC is correct or was just saying that because she wa... more »
I have been meaning to do a working holiday in Canada for years now but never got round to it, I'll be 29 soon and aware that by eligibility runs out pretty soon! So I'm thinking about going in September - Would love to hear from anyone (particularly my age) who has done one, what their experiences were, how easy it was to get jobs, what kind of jobs are available etc, how easy it was to meet people. I've done the dorm room getting wasted every night thing and while I still love a good night out I'd rather settle somewhere in Vancouver for a while, then travel after, maybe rent a room in a house - has anyone done this, is it easy to do? Is it worth paying the extra for Bunac's services or should I just get the visa direct? (which I believe you can do now) do many people my age do the bunac thing? Do many people go alone? Will I be surrounded by 20 year olds?! I'm a freelance wr... more »
I am travelling to toronto in june, I have booked a one way flight but not a return as I am unsure when i will be returning or what city i will be returning from, I have an address in St johns where i can stay for as long as i like and I also have plenty of funds in bank account to last for 3-4 months. The question is will this be enough to allow me enter canada, i have irish passport. If not what is the most flexible return flight to get, Also would a return from a city like New York be enough or must it be a return from a canadian city.
I am just investigating some different options for places to live. I am a Canadian, but know very little about Queen Charlotte Islands, but was curious to know if it would be a good place for someone who wants to be surrounded by nature rich in energy and spirituality to move to. I love quiet, peace, and calm environments. I much prefer plants and animals over people:P ! I am looking for a place (maybe Queen Charlotte Islands??) to live where I can grow with my energy healing work and meet others that are harmonious with me.. If anyone knows of a place on the Queen Charlotte Islands that might be a good match I'd love to hear about it and start my research! I don't know how easy work would be to find here, any info. on that too would be appreciated! Thanks:)
Hey fellow travellers!!
, i am planning on doing a month or so fruit picking from mid June until mid July, before i head south.
i have done some research on where to go, preferably (okanagan valley.)
Would love to hear what you think, if you have had any good/bad experiences, who i should get in contact with for a job, etc.
Okay, so, my passport is getting pretty old looking from tropical travels, a bit wrinkly with a couple "age" spots or something. I last traveled to and from England on it over the summer, and at the airport it didn't go through the scanners very well. (It eventually scanned, but I was a bit worried about it.) However, it technically doesn't expire for two years. Given this....
I am a U.S. citizen and I will be traveling overland (by ferry) from Seattle to Victoria this summer, and from Vancouver back to Seattle at the land border. If you were me, would you get a new passport for these crossings?
I'm thinking that if they want to do the thing where they slide the passport through the scanner then I'm not sure it's a good idea, but if they just glance at it, then it probably doesn't matter so much.
Thanks for any advice!
I'm 21 from New Zealand, I'm heading to America to work at a camp this June. I've recently looked into heading up to Canada to work on the mountains in November. But as I will be away for the face-to-face interviews for Whistler, I'm left with options of Big White, Banff or Sunshine Valley.
I love the snow, I'm sure any of these mountains will top Mt Ruapehu here in New Zealand, so I'm just keen to find out which place would be more fun. Where's the second best option for Nightlife and meeting people after Whistler?
at the 23th of may i arrive calgary and begin the 2nd part of my trip.
I will mainly focus on rocky mountains (banff, jasper and such). My flight back is from vancouver which means i will visit everything important on the road to vancouver.
We will also spend few days hiking (tracking) and camping if the weather will let us (i hope - end of may/june is good enough).
Budget wise, should i take the most simple rental-car and search for hostels with all i need (like wifi, breakfast and such) or should i take a simple converted-van/small rv and search for rv-parkings and campgrounds?
I am planning on being in BC this summer and want to spend time in the Okanagan. If anyone has any suggestions on vineyards/orchards to pick fruit at that would be great! The closer to civilization (city/town/village) the better! Oh, and if it's close to a beach or the lake that would be nice too. Thanks!
Next week, I'll be going to Vancouver. I want to skydive (tandem, first time) while I'm there. I will not have a car and don't drive. That being said, doing some research online, I found a few places that I can get to with under 2 hours using public transportation (i.e., one near Abottsford, etc.). Does anyone have any recommendations of skydiving companies?
Hello there forum! My hubby and I will be traveling to Alberta (finally!) between May 18 and the 26th 2012. I've been to the mountains of Western Europe and Iceland and am so pleased to say that we are finally heading west for a vacation. Flights are finally reasonable. I wanted to get an idea of possible road closures due to snow/ice. I really want to see Mount Edith Cavell but I read somewhere that the road is seasonal. We had a very mild winter on the east coast and was wondering if there is any glimpse of hope in seeing this. Also, I'm up for pointers on what is a must see on the Alberta side of the rockies. I know this is a common question but I'm too eager to hear what you have to say! :) Thanks in advance!
