Grampians or Great Ocean Rd or Yarra Valley in May

I'll be in Melbourne from 21st May to 27th May. Planning to allocate 2-3 days for Melbourne and another 3-4 days for a road trip with scenary as the main objective.

Need help to decide which of the 3 road trip options I should take, considering the 3-4 days period and time of the year which i will be going.

1) Grampians
2) Great Ocean road
3) Yarra valley / Dandenongs

What to see

We are planning on going to Australia and definitely want to see Sydney and Cairns/Great Barrier Reef. For other places, we are not sure they are worth the time and money. For example, Melbourne, Adelaide, and especially Ayers Rock/Alice Springs. Please comment on what you think we should include in about 14 days.

Also, when is the best time to scuba dive in the Great Barrier Reef?

Thanks

WWOOF - Willing Workers On Organic Farms

Hi everyone,
so I'm an 18 year old student off to Australia in a couple of weeks to some traveling, visit some friends and stuff, and was wondering if anyone had any feedback on this WWOOF organisation? It seems like a fun, worthwhile thing to do, and completely different from anything I've done before, but I don't know anyone who's participated in this so it would be great to have some actual testimonials from anyone who's done this, before I pay the 65 odd dollars to sign up if it's not worth it... Social aspect, workdays, locations, experience as whole, that sort of thing! Alternatively, if anyone has any other schemes along the same lines, 'work for your keep' type thing, I'd love to hear about those too!
Thanks a lot!

Internet in Sydney? Catholic masses in Sydney?

Two things I sometimes struggle with when travelling is where to find an internet cafe ( getting rare in some places) and where to find a Catholic church so I can attend mass. So if anyone is coming to Sydney and needs to know this info., please let me know.

Terminal transfer at Sydney

Hi everyone
My Malaysia Airlines flight arrives at Sydney Terminal 1 at 19.55 on Sunday 27th January. I have a connecting flight to Brisbane with Jetstar from Terminal 2 at 21.55. I booked them separately so my bag won't be checked through to Brisbane and I carry a UK passport. I'm a bit worried that I haven't left enough time between the flights - is there a fast track option anywhere for UK passport holders? How long will it take me to change terminals?

Western Australia

Hi,

Who is also planning a trip in may/june from Perth to Broome?
We could travel together?
I am from the Netherlands and 35 years old. Would me nice if you are about the same age.

I really want to see Monkey Mia and Shark bay again. Then spent some time at ningaloo reef, Karijini National park. Stop in Port Hedland to visit a friend and then to Broome.
But the travel plan is not made yet so you an have input to!

Hope to hear from you!

Domestic flights advice? SYD > CNS, CNS>BNE

Planning a short trip to Australia in September/October 2013. Arrive in Sydney, then plan to fly to Cairns. After some diving, we need to fly from Cairns to Brisbane to catch our onward flight. Looking for recommendations pros/cons of the different airlines serving these routes.

For SYD > CNS, I see JetStar, Quantas and Virgin Australia (any others?). JetStar looks substantially cheaper (half what Q costs) and has more direct(?) flights. I know little about these airlines - besides price (and directness of flights), any reason I would want to pick one over the other? 3 hours on JetStar versus 5 or 6 hours on Quantas (and double the price) - seems like an easy choice so far, but is this a case of full-service legacy carrier versus a cheap, fees for everything (Ryanair type)?

For CNS > BNE, I see Quantas and Virgin Australia (am I missing any others?). VA looks a bit less ex... more »

One way drop off fee

Two friends and I are planning a road trip from Cairns (possibly further north) to Brisbane, or vice versa, in a small rental car. We have two weeks.
When I search for rental cars, I find it difficult to get any certain information about one way drop off charges. It seems that it might be added at any point.
We are concerned that we may not know until we turn up at the rental agency desk, or maybe even not until we return home and get the credit card statement, and it will then be a ridicilous amount.

Does anyone have experiences with one way drop off fees in Australia? What should we expect? How do we get certain information?

Your responses will be highly appreciated :-)

Oz Working Holiday Visa

Hi All

I was wondering if you could please offer some advice. I head off on a one year around the world trip in June and I intend to get an Australian working holiday visa. Before reaching OZ I am spending 2 months in NZ and FiJi. I fly from the US to NZ to Fiji and then on to OZ however when flying from the US to NZ i have to change planes in Brisbane. Does this mean my visa will be activated and I will lose two months of it before reaching Oz?

Any advice would be really appreciated.

Thanks

Kakadu National Park

Hi guys

Just wondering if any of you have done any of the various Kakadu/Litchfield National Park tours on offer?

I'm looking at doing the 3 day / 2 night tour that visits both when I'm in Darwin in the first week of May. Any reviews, advice or recommendations would be appreciated.

Cheers

Andy

Insurance

Hi
My son has just extended his working holiday visa for a further 12 months when I rang his insurer to extend his insurance they advised it could only be extended for a further 6 months making a total of 18 months. We seem now to have a void of 6 months when he will have no cover,I am keen to cover for medical and repatriation mostly, can anyone advise on any companies that could help with this either in the uk or in Australia,I don't want him to without cover for six months.many thanks.
