Hey,
I am heading to NZ mid Jan for a 6 week trip. I have no idea how long to spend in some places, like if they are just a day trip or if I should allow longer. I fly in and out ot Christchurch, I am thinking Christchurch - Akaroa/ Banks Peninsula, Omaru, Dunedin, Catlins, Stewart Island, Te Anau, Queenstown, Wanaka, Milford Sound, Mt Cook, Franz Josef, Abel Tasman, Nelson, Picton - Wellington, Whanganui/ Tongaribo Nat'l Parks, Taupo, Raglan, Auckland, Cape Reinga, Rotorua, Napier, Wellington - Picton, Kaikoura, Hanmer Springs, Christchurch. I'd really appreciate any info anyone can give me or if I should do it in a different order?! Cheers

This prompted Adam Spencer to ask people to sms or phone with their own publicly savoured Sydney places. The list included:
Lyric Theatre at Star City
During an opera at the Opera House
Balmoral during Shakespeare By The Sea
(a very artsy crowd)
The bridge of the warship Vampire at National Maritime Museum
Senate Chamber at Parliament House (non-sitting week!)
Members stand at SCG.
Any other personal recommendations - our backpacking friends need to get out of the dorm - after all, beds are for sleeping.

Hey everyone,
Just joined the forum and was hoping for some advice about travelling to australia on your own, has anyone else done this?
I am planning on getting a job as soon as i get there probably may/june time next year in the brisbane area, working for a few months so i can save some money up and then head off travelling around australia. I'm hoping that its not going to be too hard to bump into fellow backpackers along the way and have some company for when im travelling. Has anyone else done something like this? Would really appreciate any advice, cheers.

I've got a long weekend to visit a friend in Hawkes Bay during a trip to NZ for work. He is moving to HB at Xmas from the UK & said the easiest way to get there is a flight to Napier.
I could leave Thursday PM & return on Sunday PM & stop off somewhere on the way there taying in Napier Saturday night & having Saturday & Sunday PM there. That way I'd see a bit more of the country. But is there much to see or should I just fly to Napier? Thanks for any advice.

Hi
I have just one question: If you had to pick four multiday walking tracks in New Zealand which would you choose?
A lot, if not everyone, will properly pick Milford Track so lets leave that one out...

Hi guys,
I am in Perth, WA and just agreed to buy a camper van, unfortunately the rego runs out in 4 days.
Even more unfortunate is it's registered in Queensland.
What does this mean to me?
I have a WA address and am not leaving for a few weeks. I understand the proper way to do this is drive back to QLD and rego it there, however this isn't possible.
What is the process for transferring the vehicles registered state?
Any info is much appreciated

Hi everybody,
I consider visiting Ayers Rock on a very tight schedule, flying in one day (Thursday or Friday) and flying out the very next (Friday or Saturday). Since either my day of arrival or departure could (would, rather) be Good Friday, I'd rather prefer the national park to be open. Website says it's "open all year round", but I thought I'd rather check before.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi!
I'm posting this in at least 2 other different branches so apologies if you've read it before.
I'm planning by next big vacation in 2010 and for certain reasons, I can only go in Dec, mid-Dec to be exact.
I'm still undecided as to the destination. My criteria:
