extensions to visas for seasonal work, studying in Australia, extending your stay, Australian citizenship, where to find fruit picking/harvesting jobs (a link from the Working Holiday Makers page) can be found
at this website Tip - use the menus along the top. It's all quite straight forward and user friendly.

Does anyone know how easy or difficult it is to get seats on the long distance buses (Intercity/Atomic/Nakedbus) on the South Island in mid-February? Do you actually need to reserve seats in advance or can you just buy a ticket the day before, or even the day of?
It's a tight trip and I already have budget hotels booked. I noticed buses to small towns (Picton, Kaikoura) just run 2 or 3 times a day, and so I don't want to be stuck in one town when my credit card is committed to a hotel in another. Any advice would be appreciated.

You may have seen my previous posting where I greatly appreciate the feedback I received concerning whether to fly Qantas or Singapore Airlines to Australia from the U.K.
On a further note, both of these airlines when flying from London operate th A380 airbus. My question is:
Is there any advantage flying on this plane than a regular 747. Cost wise, it's the same for a return ticket. I'm flying with my wife and three kids so would there be any advanatages such as comfort, leg room et over a 747.
Thanks everyone.

We will be staying at Mole Creek and would like to know whether it is feasible to drive early in the morning to the start of the trek and reach the walls (not climbing it) within the full day? thanks for letting me know.

I arrive about 9pm Christmas Eve into Sydney and my Christmas Day plans have been scuppered. So in the absence of somewhere to go for dinner, I might take myself off somewhere for the day. Have got a car so can fuck off wherever really but has anyone got any recommendations for somewhere not rammed with people filled with Christmas spirit?

We are a family of 4, kids aged 5 and 8. We will arrive in Brisbane, head north to Fraser Island where I have booked a tour. We will after Fraser Island head south to Melbourne and the great ocean road and back to Sydney. We have 4½ weeks to do this trip in.
I´m torn between camping, and we will then have to buy camping equipment (and it´s only for 4 weeks), or hotels/hostels.
I wasn´t planning on booking in advance, we are travelling in march, so hopefully that won´t cause a problem.

Does anyone have any recommendations of where would be good to spend Christmas Day lunch in Te Anau. Was thinking Redcliff Restaurant or the Fat Duck? Just somewhere with a good atmosphere.
Thanks

We are a kiwi couple planning on doing some camping in Northland just after christmas.
Most campsites promote themselves as family friendly, however I'm not so keen on spending my summer holidays with hundreds of kids running around.
Does anyone know of any campsites on the east coast (north of Whangarei) that have less emphasis on families and would be better for people like us???
Thanks
Anyone got a recommendation for a really nice "special-occasion" type restaurant in Wollongong or nearby?

HI All
Me and my girlfriend have been saving for a trip to aus for ages and we're nearly ready to in the new year. we both have got 12month WHV's and will be taking about £5000 each. We're not intending to get return flights as we don't know how long we will stay there, Our plan is to start with some woofing for abit then maybe get a campervan and travel around doin some casual work. We both have driving licences and arn't too sure how the legal side of things work......
Can anyone see any major problems we may encounter or major things we need to get or have missed that will stop us on our plan?
replies thanked in advance :-)

I am visiting Australia with a friend at the end of May 2010. We will be in Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane each for a couple days.
Do you know of any companies that offer fun day tours of these cities?
I am looking for tours that last anywhere from a few hours to a day. Thanks!

Two questions, if I may:
1) My girlfriend and I are flying into Auckland on December 17th for ten weeks across both islands (flying out of Christchurch end of February), and our tentative plan is to pre-book a hostel (in the quieter area of Mount Eden) for ten nights in Auckland and wing it from there.
However, I keep reading that Auckland isn't really somewhere to spend longer than a few days, and I don't really want to spend that long in one place just so we're in a city on Christmas day and just on the off-chance of there being something to do (First Christmas away from home, so she's set on making it a good one. Hence this thread). Does anyone have any alternative itinerary suggestions for Christmas?
2) Hostel vs Campervan. We'll almost certainly hire/buy a van at some point, but has anyone experienced Christmas day in one? On one hand, it'd be nice to be together i...
