extensions to visas for seasonal work, studying in Australia, extending your stay, Australian citizenship, where to find fruit picking/harvesting jobs (a link from the Working Holiday Makers page) can be found
at this website Tip - use the menus along the top. It's all quite straight forward and user friendly.

NB This is NOT the best place to ask questions : it is rarely visited by people who can provide answers. If, after reading the links provided in this thread, you still have questions, you are best off making a fresh outside post. *If you've got questions about other visas please specify the passport you'll be travelling on and whic...

Hiya,
Me and my boyfriend arrived in Sydney 3 weeks ago and are looking to rent an apartment from the beginning of January. We quite want to rent on Bondi beach and are thinking of minimum lease 2 - 3 months, maximum lease 6 months.
Would anyone be interested in sharing with us? We are a very easygoing and chilled couple, we like going out and having fun but are equally happy chilling out at night. If you are interested then drop me an email... then we can meet up for a drink or something in Sydney to discuss.
Aiming for a budget of $200 per person per week (maximum) but obviously the more people the better!! = cheaper :)

For a country which have such a complex about it's 'lack' of history - it doesn't respect what it has. "Listed" (protected/historical - can't remember the official word here) means nothing, they get destroyed on a monthly basis.
I see it all the time but the supermarket made me think of it - I don't actually know if it was listed & at least it wasn't totally destroyed back when it was built...
I get it's greed but I'm still astonished that it's allwoed that actual listed buildings can be destroyed. It's such a shame - there is a lot of history here but if this is kept up - how much of it will be left in years to come?

Hi,
A friend and me will be flying in to Darwin on Friday 5 Feb.
We're flying back the following Friday at midnight.
Our plan is as following:
Friday: Darwin
Sat: Darwin to Kakadu
Sun: Kakadu
Mon: Kakadu
Tue: Kakadu
Wed: Litchfield
Thu: Litchfield and then back to Darwin
Does this make sense?
We've never been there before, so got no idea.
Yes, we're aware that it's the wet season, but this is the only time that we can go (he's flying over from Denmark).
What should we go and see in Kakadu and Litchfield?
Feel VERY welcome to come with any suggestions and changes to our itinerary.
Finally, we've found 4WD Auto Camper hire for around A$900 for 6 days incl. No Worries cover.
Can this be done cheaper?

Hello fellow travellers!
I will be going with my girlfriend to Australia next October for a month for our honeymoon. Our itinerary is pretty much sketched out but we have some days towards the end of the trip in which we will be around the area of Cairns before returning home.
We wanted to stay for 2/3 days in an island enjoying peace, beach and snorkelling, so I'd like your advice and/or experience on that. Our trip agency guy recomended Dunk Island but as far as I have seen in the internet, this looks like a resort full of children, quite expensive, etc. I would like to check out some other options you could recommend -- or whether Dunk Island is ok for what we intend.
I don't mind travelling a bit north or south of Cairns up to a reasonable distance -- one-day car trip max -- as we will be coming back to Spain from Cairns at the end of the trip.
I appreciate any comment...

Just put the beer and cake out for santa, the kids are tucked up in bed, the misses is fine tuning the presents (her words not mine), and my mate is stopping in for a beer come closing time (about 5 minutes away). I hope the lot of you have a great day tomorrow, and I hope you also appreciate how fucking good we have it in this country, compared to others.
Merry Christmas.
Cheers, Andy ...

Hi all,
My mate in Finland (with Finnish passport) has just found out that she needs a visa to enter Australia. We both seem to forget that this is not Europe.. or a host of countries that process you upon arrival.
Of course, it's Christmas eve... has anyone got any good stories about how quickly online applications get turned around??? She's meant to be departing Helsinki on 26/12... eeeek....
Or is it like many countries where you rock up and are issued a visa? Reading the lovely immigration website makes me think she/we may not be having an enjoyable holiday together :|
Help?!?!?!?!

We are two fit, young, healthy male backpackers (1 French, 1 Jordanian) looking for work: there is none in Stanthorpe at the moment. Does anyone know if there is any work out there? Happy to travel anywhere. We would appreciate your tips.

hi all,
wondering if someone could help with my little issue! 3 of us will be arriving into perth at 1.15am on 10th feb. a crappy time to arrive which is causing problems for accomodation. we are tryin to find somewhere that will let us check in at that time and have a late checkout for the next day, close to the airport as we want to catch up on some much needed sleep before our travels! however, as most people, we are on a tight budget. the hostels only let you check in between 9am and 9pm and the hotels want us out for 10am and charge stupid prices which involves us reserving the hotel from the 9th. i'm sure many of you have had this problem when arriving in the early hours and just wondered if someone could help. this is my first time to oz, so i'm pretty usless so far!
many thanks and merry christmas!

Nowhere else have I encountered such crapness in people user friendliness!
They move when series are on or cancel series without warning. Everywhere else the are capable to inform you that "next week this program will be on X" etc.
Tonight a program that was meant to be on just wasn't & then one which had been moved (without warning) to the weekend was on when another program was meant to be on.
Seriously I don't get the reasoning behind this. If a program isn't considered popular enough (not sure if they can take into account taping) & they need to move it - that's one thing but if they want anyone to watch it wtf not let anyone on when it's going to be on or wtf move programs without warning???
I mean seriously does anyone understand/know what the logic is behind this?

Hi everyone and Merry Christmas.
I'm on the verge of booking flights for a family holiday for next year. This is a first in that we are going to visit Australia in combination with our holiday to Malaysia.
So far for flights it' down to either Qantas or Singapore Airlines. I put out a recent posting to gauge feedback and the result was a close call. Singapore Airlines just a few weeks ago had a slightly less expensive flight than Qantas. Now SQ price is higher. I am partial to SQ but also realise that the Qantas fare could rise. Here's the dilema, if I book now, both airlines may bring out special fares in January. Maybe someone can tell me if they have some sort of New Year sale. By the way I'm flying from London Via Singapore to Sydney. We will arrange internal flights from Singapore to Sabah Malaysia.
Thanks everyone in advance.
