extensions to visas for seasonal work, studying in Australia, extending your stay, Australian citizenship, where to find fruit picking/harvesting jobs (a link from the Working Holiday Makers page) can be found
at this website Tip - use the menus along the top. It's all quite straight forward and user friendly.

We have recently returned from a Captain Cook 7 day Murray River Cruise starting from Mannum in South Australia.
The best 7 days holiday we have had in years. The "Murray River Princess", accommodation, food, entertainment, scenery and wildlife, activities and tours and staff are all first class and we could not say anything in the negative about our trip. We met people from all over the world, Bermuda, U.K., New Zealand and Netherlands. The Murray River is one of the largest rivers in the world and the some of the scenery is breathtaking, who needs castles and the high seas! This cruise is a must for any traveller.

NZ visa application form here:
http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migrant/stream/visit/visitors/process/default.htm for INZ1017
On this form you can both the principal applicant and their civil partner can apply for a Visitior Visa on the one single applicaton form. Confusingly, a sole individual outside of NZ can also apply for a visitor visa for themselves only if their civil partner is a NZ citizen.
Question A12: Are you applying for a visa/permit on the basis of a partnership? Y/N
WTF do they mean? Do they mean is one of you a foreigner and the partner is a NZ citizen? Or do they mean are you both foreigners and your partner is on the same application form as the principal applicant?

You compare the success of the Oz economy with other OECD economies and all you can do is say- 'Thank you, Mr Swan, Thank you, Mr Rudd!'
Australia's unemployment rate has fallen to 5.7 per cent, after the creation of 31,200 jobs in November. Even better news was that full-time jobs made up most of the increase, with the Bureau of Statistics survey showing 30,800 full-time positions created, seasonally adjusted.
The result shocked economists who were, on average, expecting only 5,000 jobs to have been created during November, after an increase of more than 24,000 the previous month.
The Australian dollar jumped on the news, hitting US91.54 shortly after the report was released, from US91.08.

Hi
After bad luck last year in February with cancelled sailing cruise to the Whitsundays we found some more weeks to visit Australia again.
We fly in around December 28th and have time until the 10th February. We know - again not the best season for Great Barrier Reef.
Is it worth to visit Cairns and surroundings in January? Last year we only made it from Brisbane until Airlie Beach.
Now we wonder, if we better visit Ningaloo Reef? Will we have the same weather as in Cairns? How about snorkeling? Easy to get in the water? Do they have on this side also problems with iching squids?
We are considering to travel first to West Australia. Is it worth to travel north or is it just tooo hot? Better to rent a camper or is it easy to get accommodation this time of the year?
A must will be this time Tasmania. Does anyone has good tips how to get around or where to stay? Two week...

Hello,
We're going to NZ in 2 weeks. Everything is set in our itinerary except for a day and a half. We do the Milford Sound and Routeburn tracks, then we have this day and a half free before our flight. We have 2 options for that time:
1. Drive to Franz Josef Glacier and do the all-day hike on the glacier. Night in FJ, then next day drive to Christchurch via Arthur's Pass to catch our plane.
2. Drive to Mt. Cook, do hikes in Mt. Cook area (either Mueller Hut or Hooker Valley). Night in Mt. Cook. Then next day drive to Christchurch via Lake Tekpao to catch our plane.
Both options seem great (as you can see, we love to hike!), so I am at a total loss of which to do! Doesn't seem there's any way to do both (is there?). Which would you recommend if you could only do one?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Hello,
All being well I should be heading to New Zealand from the UK on a working holiday visa next February. I work in the agricultural industry with a lot of experience with livestock mainly cattle and sheep and I'm also an experienced tractor driver. So ideally I would like bring these skills and experience to a position in NZ. Just wondering if anybody can recommend any websites for me to begin my search for a position.
Also would anobody in NZ be able to tell me what the industry is like at the moment? Am I wasting my time or should I be able to attain something?
Any input would be gladly appreciated,
many thanks,
Dan.

Hi,
Ive got about 3 weeks to travel up the coast from Sydney-Cairns in February/March, stopping at various undecided locations - could people recommend the cheapest/best way to do this please? Ive looked into buses, and the cheapest seems to be Premier Transport (AU$303) - has anyone used this company before to do it? If so, what are they like?
Comments, thoughts & answers will be appreciated, ta.

We're going to the south island for 21 days in January and we have much of our itinerary set already, but we have some open days after Blenheim before we head down the west side of the island to the glaciers. I've been reading about the Marlborough Sound, the Queen Charlotte Sound, etc. but I'm confused about tracks and tramps and if these places are only accessible by walking or boat, or can you drive to them. I guess, I'm looking for the single best place to park ourselves for 2-3 days to hike and kayak around from there without a lot of extra driving or taking expensive boat trips. (We will have a rental car.)
On the otherhand, it might be neat to do a 2-day tramp on foot to two different lodges but these areas seems extremely expensive, and of course we are on a budget. Plus, it's hard to tell how many days these tramps take. We are hoping to get a backpacker accommodation arou...

Hi as a lot of you know I am going to New Zealand in Jan for a month.
I was planing on doing some of the tramps, I looked the other day at a few of these including the Milford track and the next free bed in the huts are April 15th!
I have done some research already, I was just wondering if anybody could recomend some day walks I could do instead arond the milford/doutfall sounds. Or any others around the south Island worth doing.
I would just like to see some of the amazing landscapes around the south Island.
Thankyou
