Does anyone know whether cotton zip-off trekking trousers are available in the UK?
I find the poly-cotton ones sold by most manufacturers are horribly sweaty in the tropics! (And they look like schoolboy shorts when zipped off!)
I've had a couple of pairs of Rukkas, bought in Oz, which were brilliant; 100% cotton, lightweight and cool, with reasonably sized cargo pockets, and which converted into decent shorts. Unfortunately, I'm told these are no longer made.
I've tried getting copies made in Vietnam and Thailand but the tailors there are only interested in making suits.
On my Yahoo "New Mail" screen, the heavy type and italics symbols (and others) along the bottom bar are not working. in other words I can't use heavy type or italics (and other things) in my mails.
I wondered if anyone else has come across this and understands the problem.
I've noticed often that when I'm on a flight somewhere, a fellow passenger will take out his/her ipad and proceed watch a movie or TV program on it. I'm thinking I would like to do the same. My question is, how do I put TV programs/movies on my Ipad?
Many thanks everyone

We want to share with us an amazing places which we visited in Italie - Borgo Santo Pietro. and Conti di San Bonifacio.
I still have heaps of time untill I depart on my gap year to Canada (or at least it will start in Canada) but I like to keep myself busy with thinking about it.
I intend to arrive for summer season, so I was thinking of not bringing a winter jacket and buy one when I need it. then I can swop my stuff. Also, I really want to hang out outdoors and live / work in remote places so I am very unsure of what I really should bring and what not.
I am giving up on everyting here, so I have to decide now what to sell and what to keep. I find it difficult to let loose of my city girl life ( I live in Frankfurt, Germany right now) and get rid of my nail polishes and 20 purses for various outfits and stuff.
I think the major problem is, that it is still so many weeks and months to go and therefore I find it difficult to stop buying stuff I will never bring to Canada.... more »

I recently wanted to open a new Yahoo account. Previously, Yahoo asked for the "secret answers" to a couple of questions they asked and then the account was opened and in use.
This time I was asked to give a TELEPHONE NUMBER in order for Yahoo to "confirm the account". For various reasons, I chose not to. For example: it is none of their business; they can give or sell my number to whoever they wish; a phone number also gives them access to my address and/or mobile phone network, I believe, if they or a spy agency or anyone else wants to link a residence/mobile account with the messages I'm sending by Email. (In fact I don't own a mobile though do have a home number.)
In addition to the above, if I was travelling and wished to open an account, I wouldn't have any phone number to give, even if I wanted to.
It seems to me that Yahoo is upping its powers of invasion and intrusio... more »
As I just noticed this accommodation option was mentioned briefly on the Responsible Tourism branch of Thorn Tree recently, I thought I'd let you know I had opened discussions on it in the South Africa branch. http://www.lonelyplanet.com/thorntree/thread.jspa?newPost=true&threadID=2367306

i've been cycling a few times from Vientiane south in route 13.
Just to say that there is a small beautifull road going from Thakhek all the way to Savannakhet!
First time i see it! Often along the Mekhong, very very quiet,it's smoother than route 13 and shorter: 117 km.
