I am heading to Yakushima 9th - 11th April, leaving on the 12th and I was wondering if anyone else is going there and who would like to buddy up hiring a car (or working out the buses together) and exploring the hiking opportunities on the island.
If you are about on those dates it would be good to have a hiking buddy!
Peeps who know Havana,
we plan to visit Havana in a group of 6 people February/March 2013. We would like to rent a house preferably in the neighborhood of Miramar, Playa for 2 weeks.
Who can give us some options we can explore as everybody suggest a casa particular but we need a whole casa, not just a room in somebody's house.
Thanks in advanced,

Is it possible to get a train from Frankfurt to Brussels at approx 9pm? I've had a look on a few websites but can only find 7hr journeys with multiple stops. I could stay a night in Frankfurt but I would rather spend my time in Brussels.
Thanks in advance!
I’m going to Langtang Valley, leaving Kathmandu on April 12 or shortly thereafter, then continuing through Gosainkund Lakes through Helambu to Kathmandu. I’m looking for a a trekking partner or two, for either 7-9 days in Langtang, or 16-19 days for the total trip. I will rent a four-wheel-drive vehicle to get to Langtang.
This will be my 13th in a series of trekking trips to Nepal, which started in 1980. I have a reasonably-priced trekking agent for guide and porters. Mostly sleeping in tea houses, but may camp out for a few nights. Let me know if you’re interested! Private Message preferred.
Flying into Barcelona March 14th and will be in Spain for the month. It is my first solo adventure and I'm a 26/f planning to stay in hostels mostly.
1. Looking for ideas of must see places/itinerary. I'm on a bit of modest budget.
2. I would also love to do some rock climbing sometime while I'm there. Does anyone know a reputable guide company?
3. Names of cheap but decent hostels?
Good day! I backpacked extensively a few years ago. However, I have been out of the loop as to the latest equipment. My friend and I are planning a trip for next summer and I am helping her accumulate gear. When I backpacked brands like mountain hardware, keltie, north face, and arc teryx were popular.
Any suggestions to the best overall, most popular, most practical, best material, bang for buck, etc would be very helpful.
Thanks and safe travels.
me and my girlfriend are planning this route, has anyone done this route by boat? is it easy, safe and cheap (ish)? do you need to book in advance or could you book it in Iquitos say for a couple of days after? ive read about bordem and roughing it, thats fine with me, its just very expensive to fly so i think this is the nest option...
after a lot of thinking it back and forth we have decided that we would like to go to Kidepo overland in July.
And now we are looking for travel companions, so we can share the costs. Right now its just the two of us, which still makes it a little expensive. So if you want to join and see Kidepo please contact us via PN!
I am looking to travel to Kidepo at the end of August from Jinja and cannot afford air transport. I was wondering if anyone could comment of the current safety of the road situation given that the Canadian, American, and UK embassies all advise against road transport to Kidepo. Given time constraints we would be travelling with a tour company based out of Jinja if this affects the safety concerns at all. Mostly I am concerned about bandits and possibly robberies rather than conflict.
Thanks for any input,
Kidepo Valley NP via the Moroto-Kotido road...a dream came through....
In December 2012 me and my girlfriend made a 2-weeks trip to Kidepo NP in the far north of Uganda.
As it was my 2nd time in Uganda, my focus was on the northert/north-eastern part of the country.
We took the Moroto-Kotido-Kaabong route...the "virtually impassable eastern route through desolate, remote, authentic and colourful Karamoja land".
Beforehand I had very high expectations of this trip and I must admit that they have been exceeded...it was very safe, the people and local tribes we met were very friendly and welcoming, the landscapes were overwhelming, there are hardly any "muzungus", no traffic (just a few UN trucks) and the roads...well, they were...quite a challenge. It took us 2 full days of from Mt Elgon NP up to Kidepo, but despite the very long drives...I enjoyed every minute of it. This is t... more »
Hi everyone, I'm planning a backpacking trip across India from June to August this year. I'm looking for culture, as opposed to wild partying etc. My two questions are these:
Given the period when I plan to travel, June to August, which areas would be best to visit weather wise?
I've been told three months may be too much time to spend in India, and I would like to maybe spend a few weeks outside the country, so which neighbouring countries would people recommend, again given the weather for that period etc.?
Also, just any advice/tips/suggestions people have would be much appreciated!
