train travel pre book or on the day of travel. which is cheaper

Hi,
Will be using the train in Austria and would like to know if its cheaper to prebook a seat. Does it cost more to select a seat. In ireland when you book your name appears overhead the seat selected on the train carridge. How many days in advance would you have to book? And if you book from A to B on a certain day, would you have to travel on a assigned time. Again in this country if you wanna travel at another time outside of the time you booked then you pay 10euro extra. Of course now your booked seat will not be available, so you may end up standing all of the journey.
Mant thanks in advance for your help with this,

Maunsell Sea Forts in Thames Estuary

I'll be in London next month. I've read about the Maunsell Sea Forts in the Thames Estuary (accessible by boat tour out of Whitstable), but am having a hard time finding information online.

Does anybody know if boat tours are still available? Can anybody point me in the right direction? I want to see these things!

Europe via leased Car

Hi Guys,

I'm leasing a car through Renault USA for about 160 days and driving through Europe. Since I'm insanely spur of the moment spontaneous type, I haven't developed a detailed itinerary. I'm picking up the car on Jul 17th in Paris and returning it Dec 20th at the same spot. Now, from Paris I can make my way north towards Poland and then go south towards the mediterranean or I can go south first and head down to Spain/Portugal. I'd like to be able to cover Italy, Spain, Greece, Croatia, Austria, and Turkey at the very least. Your opinions and suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks

Adonis V.

Ideas for a honeymoon?

My fiancee will be getting married next April and we are looking for honeymoon possibilities... we are trying to settle on something mutual, as I want something interesting with some amount of cultural substance while she wants something on a beach, preferably with the phrase "all-inclusive" somewhere involved. So (among other ideas) I thought about India.

For a 2 week honeymoon, can both of these desires be satisfied? And is the private beach/all-inclusive idea something that even exists in India/Goa or am I looking in the wrong place?

And of course, if there are any other locales that come to mind to hit both of these targets, do please recommend.

4 Nights in Vienna - What to do?

I'm spending 4 nights in vienna as part of an 8 week holiday though europe and the middle east. I like the 'idea' of vienna, but don't really have a list of 'things to see' there. I was thinking of a day trip on the train to bratislava, but i'd love ideas as to have to fill a couple of days in vienna.

(34 year old kiwi bloke travelling by myself, I like museums, but i rush through them, i like photogenic buildings and a bit o history, keen on walking and natural beauty as well)

Bus Vientiane to Pakse

Hi travellers in Laos,

can anyone inform me about the bus trips from Vientiane to Pakse?

I have made this trip before and there was à choice beween different companies, and different types of VIP-busses running from the Southern bus station in Vientiane. No problem.

But recently I heard there is just one company left who is operating Vte - Pakse, and there are safety risks (drivers too tired, driving too fast in the night, etc.)

I would like to hear more about it,

Kind regards, Caroline Kruijne

Kampot and Bokor NP- does it worth the effort?

Hello
We are considering to go to Kampot/ Bokor before we finish our trip in Cambodia.

Do the ruins of the old hill station and some river trip worth the effort? Any advise would be appreciated (also if you know anything else we can do there)

I also understand that there was new resort/casino constructed recently- is it in the proximity yo the old hill station/park and disturbs the trip there? From what I understand the resort itself is pretty ugly....

Thanks for any advise

Self-Driving Car Rental in Iran

I would like to share my experiences with a self-driven rental car in Iran.
Unlike stated in the latest issue of LP Iran it is possible to rent a self driven car in Iran. Europcar has this option available and I did this in early May this year.

How does it work:
You can reserve a car in Iran on Europcar’s general international reservation page. You will get a standard reservation confirmation from Europcar instantly as for any other country. You will than receive an email some days later from the local licensee confirming your rental and provide some details of local specifics, I am outlining further down.

Rental location exist in Tehran City, at the Iman Komeini Airport (IKIA) and in Shiraz. I rented a car in Shiraz and returned that car at IKIA.
You have a choice between several car sizes, I have chosen the smallest car size which turned out to be a locally manfactured ... more »
