As regards the thread a couple down from this one titled - "User Voice - we'd like your ideas about the next generation of Thorn Tree" which can be found here - http://www.lonelyplanet.com/thorntree/thread.jspa?newPost=true&threadID=1852855
Don't I remember us going through all this before, but not in such a technical way, and giving our opinions on what features we like, what we found useful and what we wished for?
Do I remember that a large amount of what we said was disregarded for reasons that the new software was off the shelf and required tweaking - which, unfortunately, it still is being done and countless bugs appeared, which, unfortunately has taken till now to sort out?
Years later?
Do I remember a number of features we liked, e.g. the Today page disappeared and we ended up with clouds of key words or something. Plus other things we didn't want, like the problem with...

there really should be a way to have an option forward my pm's to my email.
same way as the watch a thread works.
Hello!
I've been a member of Thorntree for a while now and no matter how many times I edit my profile, it keeps saying that I'm from Bulgaria. When I go to edit my profile, it says that I'm from Canada (which is where I'm from) but when you click on my name in the threads, it shows up as Bulgaria. Is there anywhere of changing this?
Thanks

Is there a way to do so? How?
Without this feature, search is irritating at best and usually useless. Is there some obvious way that I'm missing?

A click on the RSS button results in an error message.

When I search for a certain topic, I get a lot of results that are two years old, on the first page.
For example, there were significant and problematic changes to the Indian tourist visa rules in the past two weeks, and I want to search for what people are saying about that, if anybody has personal experience, etc. But my search results are all years old and there doesn't seem to be a way to either filter search by date or to order results by date. Any ideas?

Hi there - when I sign in, I don't get the usual recent posts on the right hand side. To get them to appear, I have to make a new reply to a thread to go back and check recent threads. In a nutshell, even after I sign in, it doesn't look like I've signed in.

Perusing groups - mainly ones relating to the UK - I noticed a lot of spamming that has been around for a while.
Here are a couple of examples:
Discount London - the most recent 14 posts are links to hotel booking sites without any personal recommendations or trip infornmation.
Online Hotels Booking IN Unknown City - this only has one message which is a link to a hotel booking site.
I have looked at a number of other groups with similar spamming links. I'm sure there are groups serving a meaningful purpose for LP users.
Are the posting rules the same for groups as for the Thorn Tree or is it a question of a lack of reporting? Either way it seems that the spammers have found a way to advertise for free and make at least some groups less useful for LPers.
I ...
