Lonely Planet review for Blauw
Blauw is the place for stylish Indonesian food in Utrecht. Young and old alike enjoy superb rijsttafels (array of spicy dishes served with rice) amid the red decor that mixes vintage art with hip minimalism.

Blauwe hap
botj recommends this,
This hip restaurant provides quintessential Indonesian food in a country where Indonesian food had become bland and generally much too sweet. Here you get the taste of real trassie (fermented shrimp-paste, used as an ingredient in many Indonesian dishes) and sambal (chilli sauce in many varieties).
Blauw, the Dutch word for blue, is entirely red on the inside. The reference however is actually more subtle: "blauwe hap" (blue grub) is a term used in Dutch navy, to indicate the regular Wednesday Indonesian rice table. Also: “blauwe” is considered a profane way of referring to Indonesian people. (But why would they call it Blauw then?)
Much more interesting than all this is the food. The rice table dish (which has its roots in a colonial era, when it was considered 'authentic' to serve everything the chef could make, all at once) goes down nicely with lager, although some claim white wine is better. The dish, mind you, is more like a banquet – it should leave even the big eaters very satisfied. If you must, try a soto ajam soup for a starter.
