Nieuwe Kerk information
Nicknamed ‘Oude Jan ’ (Old Jan) by Delft’s citizens in homage to its most famous resident (Johannes Vermeer is buried here), this beautiful church was built in 1246. It houses the crypt of the Dutch royal family. Note the striking white interior and the 27 stained-glass windows, which cast their brilliantly coloured lights on the walls on sunny days. You can climb the tower for views.
