Lonely Planet review

The city’s favourite hotel is housed in the former headquarters of the Holland-America passenger-ship line, and has excellent service and facilities. It’s noted for its views, cafe and water taxi that takes guests across the Nieuwe Maas to the city centre. The art nouveau rooms – with many original and painstakingly restored decorative items and fittings – are divine and come in various styles, from standard to rooms in the old boardrooms complete with fireplaces. Watch for deals as low as €100 a night.
