Amsterdam

Hello fellow travelers!!

My sister and I will be going to Amsterdam for about 8 days in May. We have never been there and we were wondering if there is any particular area of town that is better for visitors to stay(I thought red light district, she thinks not)? Anyway we wanted to ask how easy it is to get around town, we will be arriving via airport. Does it really matter how far we stay from the airport or is everything easy to reach with public transport? We want to be able to see and…

The 'New' Last Waterhole, Amsterdam

In a few weeks time I am going to Amsterdam for a few days and wondered if anyone has any info. on the 'New Last Waterhole' live music venue.
It used to be located in the Red Light and was just called the Last Waterhole. Then, about 5-6 years ago (or so) it was knocked down for a new development. Word on the street was that the staff still worked at a new location called the 'New Last Waterhole'. Does anyone know of it please?
The original venue had live music every night, it was also a hostel…

Hi!

I will have a 15 hour layover in Amsterdam - April 2 and another one on April 12 though this layover will only be for 5 hours. Any recommendations on where to go sight seeing, restaurants and how to move around? I would love to explore the city!

Amsterdam - Cheap Guest House/B&B/Room

I know Bookings.com exists but does anyone have any recommendations that are not covered by the generic websites. I intend to visit early January so just after the carnage that is NYE. Where can I find the 'walk up' places? I don't mind being slightly out of the city center.

Thanks,

Amsterdam/Haarlem to Hoorn

Hi Everyone,

a very specific question:-

As part of a short trip to the Netherlands I will be basing myself in Amsterdam. I plan to visit Haarlem on a day trip and noticed a poster (Ton) mentioned how nice a train trip was to Hoorn.

  1. Can anybody add further to this i.e. is the rail journey the highlight?
  2. Should I get off enroute at any specific places and would a single ticket allow me to do this without additional charges?
  3. Would it be best going Amsterdam to Haarlem and then onto Hoorn and…

Utrecht - jobs for English speaker

Hey!
I am a native english speaker, hoping to head to Utrecht for my masters. I have an EU passport, and so I am allowed to work, but I am unable to find any info online as to whether or not I will be able to find work.
I am not too fussed what I do. though prefer not to work night shifts. I have worked in all sorts of jobs in the past - travel agent, english teacher (no TEFL), flight attendant, bar attendant, paralegal so have a wide range of skills.
Do you think I'd be able to find…
