Max Euwe (1901–81) was the Netherlands’ only world chess champion (in the 1930s) and here you’ll find a permanent exhibition devoted to the history of the game. You can play against live or digital opponents. The pavement of the square out the front is often crowded with players and onlookers bent over the outsized chess board.
