The House of Bols is a jenever (Dutch gin) museum run by the Bols distillery. The hour-long, self-guided tour includes a confusing sniff test, a company history and a cocktail made by one of the bartenders who train at the academy upstairs. You must be aged 18 or over to visit.

    Laidback, fun and great cocktails

    It was a blast. We just walked in because it was opposite the Van Gogh museum. It was worth the try. Great cocktails en service.

    Amazing experience

    My boyfriend and I were up for a night of fun. We are real genever lovers, so we googled that term and this site popped-up. There were a lot of trips to choose from, but the House of Bols trip seems the most fun to us! We choose the culinary genever tasting. Geneverlovers as we are, we were so pleasantly surprised this evening. They had so much information we did not know of, guided with several genevers and a lot of snacks. It was an amazing experience!!

    This tour was amazing, it is covered by the Iamsterdam pass, which makes it cheaper! The set up of this place is awesome. you are able to smell every type of alcohol they produce. There is also a time map showing where Bols started off.... back in the 1500's! There is a bottle of each type of alcohol they ever made in the building. The lighting in this place is awesome. In the end you get to choose a drink from a list of cocktails/martinis and the bartenders will make it for you standing in front of a color coded wall of Bols alcohol. Perfect for picture oppurtunities.

    Give yourself an hour or maybe more to go through this, do not rush yourself as there is a lot to look at.

    Let me start by saying that I had an absolutely amazing time here! Admittedly I was already in a bit of a giggly mood that day but the vibe of the place was wonderful nonetheless. (check out the website to see some great pics of the lighting, etc.) Some friends and I decided to visit the House of Bols. Although I am from Amsterdam, I had never visited this place before. As the description states there was an interesting 'taste test', but also a free flaring session where your bottle juggling skills get filmed and sent to you later by e-mail. All in all a terrific experience with the girls and definite do-over with any of my visiting friends that want to see a little extra in Amsterdam before starting the night!
