Lonely Planet review for Piet de Leeuw
Dark and cosy Piet de Leeuw has been a steakhouse and hangout since the 1940s. Crowds descend for well-priced slabs of meat with toppings such as onions, mushrooms or bacon, served with salad and piping-hot frites.

horrible
pacificnorthwestbest does not recommend this,
We really wanted to like this place and the first night we tried to dine there without a reservation and were scolded for not having one and then sent away. The next day we made a reservation on their website, and went back. We were treated rudely from the moment we gave our name at the door. The couple ahead of us and behind us who were Dutch were never asked about a reservation. (there were over 10 empty tables in the place) They at first tried to tell us that we didn't have a reservation and we really should have just listened to them and left. But we insisted that we did and persisted. They eventually seated us.
Of course what came next was us being ignored while tables after us were served. Finally we ordered and the steak was tough and dry. The service even got worse as the host dropped a menu on my head and pretended it didn't happen. Needless to say I was appalled.
Just to set things straight you should know that their website is in English and Dutch and they have English menus, although I can't imagine why unless they enjoy torturing English speakers. If you would like to go somewhere to be treated badly I would recommend choosing a place that has good food so at least you don't feel totally bamboozled. Not good for: atmosphere, food, service
