Lonely Planet review for Sea Palace

It’s a funny thing about floating Chinese restaurants: they look like tourist traps and may well be, but from Hong Kong to Holland many are admired for their good food. The Sea Palace’s three floors are busy with people, both Chinese and non, who come not just for the great views of the city from across the IJ. Even if you order dim sum from a menu instead of a cart, the shrimp in the ha kow dumplings go pop in your mouth just the same.

Avoid it if you have had authentic chinese food elsewhere

    arnie_76 does not recommend this,

Its an ultimate tourist trap. Looks grand only from the outside. If you had chinese food before you will never wish to come here again. I and my wife visited it on 19th Sept around 3 pm. Asked for sweet corn chicken soup(€4.50) which my wife had to chew hard because the cornflour gravy was too thick. The Chicken springroll with baby potatoes(€7.50 for 2 pieces) came after 20 mins minus the baby potatoes and was dipped in a layer of cooking oil. The chicken dumplings(€7.50) never came through. After waiting for another 20 mins we cancelled the order, paid our bill at the reception and left with a bad experience.Service is very poor, there was no apology.
