Fifteen minutes by foot from everything, the well-run Agora offers smallish rooms with understated decor, up-to-date bathrooms, and a cheerful garden off the breakfast room. Rooms without private bathroom cost about €10 less. Wi-fi (free) is only available in the lobby.

Situated in a renovated 18th-century canal house, Hotel Agora is next to Amsterdam’s Flower Market and 10 minutes’ walk from Leidseplein Square. Twenty-four hour reception and daily buffet breakfast are available.

Agora Hotel’s rooms include cable TV and a private bathroom. Some rooms overlook the Singel Canal, others overlook the Agora’s courtyard or garden.
