There are frequent air-con buses to/from Bangkok (230B, five hours), Hua Hin (80B, 1½ hours), Cha-am (90B, 2½ hours) and Phetchaburi (105B, three hours) leaving from Th Phitak Chat near the centre. For southern destinations such as Phuket or Krabi, hike 2km northwest out to the police station on the highway to catch passing buses (motorcycle taxis will take you for 40B). Ordinary buses to Hua Hin (65B), Bang Krut (55B), Bang Saphan (65B) and Chumphon (160B, 3½ hours) leave from the southeast corner of Ths Thetsaban Bamrung and Phitak Chat.

There are frequent train services to/from Bangkok (2nd class 220B to 357B, 3rd class 128B, six hours). Trains also run to Ban Krut (one hour) and Bang Saphan Yai (1½ hours).
