Indian restaurants in Thailand

  1. A

    Royal India

A windowless dining room of 10 tables in a dark alley may not be everybody’s ideal lunch destination, but this legendary north Indian place continues to draw foodies despite the lack of aesthetics. Try any of the delicious breads or saucy curries, and finish with a homemade Punjabi sweet.

  2. B

    Arabia

This small restaurant does north Indian-Pakistani-Arab-style cuisine very well, perhaps better than any of the others in terms of the freshness of the flavours. Don't let the fact that it's often empty throw you off the trail; it has a steady and discerning, if small, clientele.

  3. Sony Yadaw

Many South Asian gem dealers stop into this hole-in-the-wall vegetarian restaurant for a home-away-from-home meal.

  4. C

    Great Curries of India

It isn’t lying. The wide range of curries at this family-owned cafe is fantastic. It also has tasty kebabs, tandoori chicken and fish tikka. Take it away or dine in and enjoy the ever-strobing sounds and images of Bollywood.

  5. D

    Tantra

Better dressed than Phuket’s other Indian haunts, Tantra has cushioned floor seating and the usual array of dishes with some London pub grub mixed in. It also has a flat screen for all your fanatical cricket needs.

  6. E

    Indian Hut

Despite the fast-food overtones in the name and logo, this long-standing restaurant is classy and popular with visiting businesspeople. The emphasis is on northern Indian cuisine, including excellent flatbreads, tandoor-baked meats and homemade paneer in a tomato and onion curry.

  7. Richi India Food

This colourful place looks more like a hair salon than a restaurant, and the food won't wow you, but with Indian cuisine being so rare in Isan, you take what you can get.

  8. F

Couple views from this restaurant’s 26th floor with an all-Indian buffet and a live band, and you have one of the most popular Sunday destinations for Bangkok’s South Asian expat community.

    Maha Raja

Indian cuisine usually travels well and this reasonably priced shrine to Bollywood bling is no exception.

  15. Om Ganesh

Customers meditate over curries, biryani rice, roti and lassis though the local expats joke that every dish tastes the same. Platters start at 350B.

  16. L

    New Delhi

This basic eatery serves up some of the most delicious Indian food we've tasted in northern Thailand. Lovingly and expertly prepared, predominantly northern Indian food dominates the menu. The deliciously spiced 'Handi' dishes are among our favourites. Note that the service is poor, but all will be forgiven when you're tucking into the delectable curries.

  17. M

    Mariam Restaurant

This Muslim restaurant serves Indian (Pakistani, actually) and southern Thai food. For 120B you get three dishes, two roti and one drink.

  18. N

    Khana Sutra

The curries here, which are claimed to have aphrodisiac properties, are authentically Indian and are served among the decorative charms of an authentic Delhi diner. If the owner's around, be prepared for opinionated discussions about British football.
