Appealing to Asian visitors who'd rather navigate a mall than a cityscape, Lotus Pang Suan Kaew (also known as 'PSK') has fused itself to the back end of the Kad Suan Kaew shopping centre, like a born-again conjoined twin.
The gangly named Lotus Pang Suan Kaew is a 660-room hotel that epitomises Thailand's interpretation of corporate space, with a section devoted to tarot-card readers and a 1980s-style atrium lobby viewed from its entire height by a glass-enclosed elevator. The deluxe rooms are attractive, if dated, with a sitting area, king-sized bed and a tub and shower. The superiors are in an older wing that is not well ventilated. There are conference facilities and multiple floors and elevators that confuse everyone but the staff. One of the perks should be a free map of the hotel interior. Instead there's free transfer to Chiang Mai's Night Bazaar and easy access to the connected mall as well as a central location between Old City sights and Th Nimanhaemin entertainment district.
