Lonely Planet review for Taling Pling

You know you've picked well when Thai families outnumber expats. And you get a stylish setting, pretty enough for Bangkok gays. A few menu standouts include yam plaa salid taling pling (a fried fish salad with the namesake sour vegetable), chicken wrapped in pandanus leaves and phàk dam lung (stir-fried gourd leaves).

Awesome choice in the heart of town!

    RonTD recommends this,

While small and seemingly hidden in an alleyway, it seemed really popular with locals and foreigners, which is always a confidence booster!

We started with a popular local appetizer which to be honest I've never seen, heard or tasted before in Singapore. A search later back home revealed it to be Mieng Kham - chaplu leaves or raw Kai Lan with ginger, garlic, onion, chilli padi, lime, and the awesome peanut and dried shrimp mix in the middle. Throw 'em all onto a leaf, wrap, and consume. Yummy and refreshing with sweet, salty, sour and piquance all rolled in oneand relatively healthy too!

We had other crowd favourites such as papaya salad (REALLY SPICY), olive rice, pandan chicken (which was awesome as well), tom yum goong (great), thai fish otah (quite alright for me), deep fried snowfish with fish sauce (always great!) and green curry chicken. Definitely a great choice for great affordable thai food, nice decor and environment to boot.

Amazing food in a beautiful setting

    kbislooking recommends this,

Taling Pling is even better than my Lonely Plant guidebook said! I got a little concerned walking down the very dark seemingly abandoned road that is Th Pan but realised we'd arrived when we saw the soft glow from the lanterns hanging in the tree outside the restaurant. Housed in a beautifully restored traditional thai house, Taling Pling looks like your experience is gonna cost more than you expect. Obviously looks can be deceiving though as each of the dishes are only around 100-200 baht.
Choosing the dishes wasn't easy as they all looked so beautiful but we incredibly impressed with our choices when they arrived; including the pandanus chicken and fried fish salad recommended in LP.
Taling Pling is a must in Bangkok!
