New Siam II Guesthouse

The new and second Siam pretties up standard guesthouse fare with hotel trimmings and extras like cute decor and night swimming. This is an older member of the Banglamphu guesthouse community, but it remains in very good nick and continues to be highly popular.

This Siam (there are other Siam guesthouses around the area) is down one of the small lanes leading from Th Pra Athit to Soi Rambutri. It therefore manages to be well-placed in the midst of the Banglamphu zone while remaining quiet and peaceful. The rooms are essentially cramped and budget-style, but they have an airy feel and are well equipped. In-room features include cable TV, phone, safe, key card lock and bathroom scales, as well as finishing touches like silk bed-runners and wood-framed mirrors. Such attention to detail, combined with the gleaming (if basic) bathrooms and the pleasant views, make this place more agreeable than many neighbouring options. If you're not interested in TV or decorative extras, however, you'll find it overpriced. It's worth noting that there's a lift.
