Another giant mid-range tower on Silom Rd. With its purple-coated bellboys, fancy glass-encased lobby and attractive rooms, the popular Narai welcomes tourists and professionals from around the world. It is well-placed for business trips, and while the immediate area is very impersonal, the rest of Bangkok is easily accessible by skytrain or taxi.
Rates here are often generously discounted. The rooms are comfortable and tastefully decorated in tranquil shades, and many have been refurbished recently. Superior rooms are more contemporary in style than standard ones, with warm wooden floors and attractive, colourful design flourishes. Suites provide much of the same look, with added amenities and a bit more space. As well as restaurants and fitness facilities there's a huge, oval-shaped pool surrounded by deckchairs and greenery, as well as a variety of business facilities. The Narai is a slick establishment that lacks the shabby feel so prevalent among mid-range options.
